Trainer advised that the gelding would now likely be sent for an immediate spell.

Raced wide early before being permitted to stride forward from the 1500m and settle into a leading position nearer the inside running rail at the 1300m. Bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced approaching the 200m. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Jockey advised that, in his opinion, the mare is better suited to racing more conservatively with cover and having to press forward early to avoid being caught wide was a telling factor.

Bumped on jumping. Raced wide in the early stages. Under pressure from the 700m. Commenced to tire form the 500m. Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer advised that, in his opinion, the gelding needs to be ridden quite aggressively as it has a tendency to drop the bit when permitted to do so. Trainer added that the intention would now be to freshen the gelding for a step back in trip and assess further from then.
