The Winter Carnival heats up on May 31 with two Group 1 events taking centre stage – the Kingsford Smith Cup and the Queensland Derby, as the road to the Stradbroke draws closer.
The 2024 raceday was simply unforgettable, as I Wish I Win and Bella Nipotina fought out a dramatic finish in the Kingsford Smith Cup, with the former putting the nose down when it counted most.
The day will be remembered however for the Queensland Derby, where Warmonger put in one of the most arrogant displays ever seen in a Group 1 race, scorching clear to win by nearly 11 lengths.
Bella Nipotina looks set to return in 2025, aiming to go one better as she eyes off another tilt at the Stradbroke Handicap two weeks later.
