What is Queensland race information?

Queensland race information is the use of information that identifies, or is capable of identifying any of the following:

  • the name, number or time of an intended race to be held at a race meeting at a licensed venue in Queensland;
  • the name or number of a licensed animal that has been nominated for, or that will otherwise take part in, an intended race to be held at a race meeting at a licensed venue in Queensland;
  • the name or number of a licensed animal that has been scratched or withdrawn from an intended race to be held at a race meeting at a licensed venue in Queensland;
  • the name or number of a rider, or trainer, of a licensed animal that has been nominated for, or that will otherwise take part in, an intended race to be held at a race meeting at a licensed venue in Queensland;
  • the outcome of a race held at a race meeting at a licensed venue in Queensland.

Authority for use of Queensland race information

Section 133 of the Racing Act 2002 (Qld) provides that it is an offence for a licensed wagering operator to use Queensland race information without an authority.  A licensed wagering operator may apply for an authority to use Queensland race information. 

If you would like to use, or continue to use Queensland race information you must apply for an authority. The next authority period will be for a period of two years from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2025.

An application fee of $250 is payable for applicants that have not previously held an authority to use Queensland race information.

To apply for an authority, please:

  1. complete the online application form available at http://www.qldraceinfo.com.au/application-form; and,
  2. if you have not previously held an authority, make payment of the application fee of $250.

General Conditions for the use of Queensland race information

Authorised wagering operators are required to comply with the General Conditions for the use of Queensland race information. Racing Queensland (RQ) has updated the General Conditions and the new terms will take effect from July 1, 2023.
