RACE ONE
CHAPTER ONE (1) took them all the way from gate 4 2 starts back over the 2138m running a strong closing 800m and taking a 3m victory. That followed a half-head 2nd when grabbed on the line and his last effort was strong. He should have little trouble in holding the front and can take them all the way.
BETTABE PERFECT (5) was a winner when finishing best here 6 starts back and then came out and landed successive placings at his next 2 His run 2 starts back was an eye-catcher when working home late and on Wed in the Redcliffe Christmas Cup he had little luck when looking for space. He is right in the fight.
POLISHED ROCKS (3) was a 3m 3rd last start after a run of bad barriers and from this gate will be right in the mix again.
BATTLE BORN (4) has been at the trials trying to get back to his best and will race unhoppled for the 1st time. At is best he would be up to taking this.
SELECTIONS: CHAPTER ONE (1), BETTABE PERFECT (5), POLISHED ROCKS (3), BATTLE BORN (4) SUGGESTED BET: CHAPTER ONE (1) to win
RACE TWO
NUI TOC TIEN (1) was a winner 3 starts back when peeling off a strong tempo and sailing on by down the stretch to a land an impressive victory. Beaten 8m behind LANCELOT BROMAC at his next start, he had no luck last at his most recent run. With the improved gate he looks hard to stop. MOJO MAJOR (8) has 2 wins and 2 2nds in 4 outings at Albion Park and will line up for Grant Dixon for the 1st time here. Last week from gate 7 he did a power of work when sitting 3-wide for a large portion of the race. He will get the cosy trip here and if he has the zip to get up the lane is the threat. MY ELUSIVE DREAM (7) has the wide gate but closed out strongly in the Qld Cup last week to finish 4th behind AZTEC BROMAC. That followed a strong mid-week win and he must be respected. BRING ON LEFTY (9) resumes from a spell and has trialled twice to prepare for the return, the 2nd a handy effort. He can drop down to the pegs for a cheap run and fill the exotics. SELECTIONS: NUI TOC TIEN (1), MOJO MAJOR (8), MY ELUSIVE DREAM (7), BRING ON LEFTY (9) SUGGESTED BET: NUI TOC TIEN (1) to win
RACE THREE
CONSTANTLYSIDEWAYS (12) has been the runner-up in 3 of 5 appearances since returning from a spell and also scored a strong win here 2 starts back. Settling behind the leader on that occasion he finished best when he saw space in a strong closer. He will need some tempo early which there looks to be and he can take this. MAKO BANNER (9) started fav last start from gate 7 and did plenty of work in the run and loomed up for the win only to be grabbed right on the wire when beaten a nose. He will strip fitter for that run, just his 3rd following 12 months on the sidelines and settling handy here can issue a challenge. YOUNG AMERICAN (3) put in a strong effort 3 starts back when beaten a head when racing wide. A Redcliffe winner at his next start he can look to get forward here and has claims. LONG ROAD TO FAME (4) has been in the money at his past 4 starts with 3 of those at Redcliffe. If he can settle close to the speed he will be poised to use his powerful finish. SELECTIONS: CONSTANTLYSIDEWAYS (12), MAKO BANNER (9), YOUNG AMERICAN (3), LONG ROAD TO FAME (4) SUGGESTED BET: CONSTANTLYSIDEWAYS (12) to win
RACE FOUR GLENFERRIE BOSS (8) was a winner here 4 starts back when working home wide out after starting from the 2nd line and arriving in time to score. No closer than gate 6 his next 3 starts he has not been far away from the winner in each of those and sweating on the 1 holding here, he can take the closing shot. FRANCO REVEL (1) was 2m from the winner in a Menangle claimer 2 starts back when taking the pocket trail from gate 5. He went back from gate 5 here last week and hit the line in good order behind MOJO MAJOR. With good early speed he will need to hustle early but can look to dictate. CHAL FIRE (5) has been thereabouts of late and last start over the 2138m trip was working in the run when 10m from ALWAYS MY MATE. He can slide forward and force the tempo. DRIVE THE DREAM (7) has the tough gate to overcome but she is racing well and is worth following. Beaten 3m behind MY ELUSIVE DREAM and then 2nd to ALWAYS MY MATE, she can swoop off a h ot tempo.
SELECTIONS: GLENFERRIE BOSS (8), FRANCO REVEL (1), CHAL FIRE (5), DRIVE THE DREAM (7) SUGGESTED BET: GLENFERRIE BOSS / FRANCO REVEL (8/1) quinella
RACE FIVE
GAME WE PLAY (2) was sent straight to the front from gate 5 last week and once in control was never in danger in scoring a 2.5m victory. He burnt early in a stinging 26.4 opener but still had the power to hold them off and with an easier lead here looks mighty hard to run-down. ARROKEEFE (1) made his Qld debut last week when starting from the 2nd line and hitting the line strongly in the closing stages to run PARISIAN ROCKSTAR to a 3m margin . He had placed in 3 of his previous 4 starts before arriving and with the cosy trip can be coiled and ready to strike in the stretch. CHANG MAI (8) will likely be buried away on the pegs here but the economical run will suit in what looks to be a peg- dominated event. He worked hard last start off gate 6 and this is more suitable. TOP TRIO (5) started fav last week and from gate 2 found himself back in the running line when well covered. He scored via the passing lane 2 starts back and has place claims here. SELECTIONS: GAME WE PLAY (2), ARROKEEFE (1), CHANG MAI (8), TOP TRIO (5) SUGGESTED BET: GAME WE PLAY (2) to win
RACE SIX AVONNOVA (11) started in red figures in the Qld Cup last week from gate 1. Looking to take them all the way he set a strong tempo but couldn’t hold off the finish of AZTEC BROMAC. That was successive 2nds to the Sydney pacer and despite the tough gate here, he can be off early and his class can see him through. THE SHADY ONE (1) will appreciate this barrier and comes in off the back-up from the Redcliffe Christmas Cup where he was buried away and grabbed 3rd once the space opened. Only 3m and a head from the winner in his previous 2 starts, he can enjoy the cosy trip and will be ready to sprint when the gaps appear in the stretch. LANCELOT BROMAC (6) is always in the mix and will find this easier than the Christmas and Qld Cups at his past 2 starts. Look for him making a closing sprint. REMEMBER THEM (3) is another that will appreciate this type of race from the gate after being stuck looking for position in the Qld Cup. With good early speed he can look to dictate.
SELECTIONS: AVONNOVA (11), THE SHADY ONE (1), LANCELOT BROMAC (6), REMEMBER THEM (3) SUGGESTED BET: AVONNOVA (11) to win
RACE SEVEN
OVERLAP (8) was hitting the line strongly last start after settling al long way back in the pack and was able to finish 9m from JACKAROO BROMMAC. 3 starts back he went within a half-neck of the winner and followed that with a 2.5m 4th. With the economical run he can look to finish over the top. MAX RICHTER (1) made the most of his barrier 2 starts back and went straight to the front off gate 2 over the 2138m and once in control held them off to score a 2m victory. Looking to repeat the run over the 1660m last start it was only the in-form sprint of JACKAROO BROMAC he couldn’t withstand. He will be gripping on here. MIND THE WIRE (10) drops back to the claiming ranks after being luckless from a wide gate in the Qld Cup last week. His Menangle form prior to that was strong and despite the gate he is a big danger. MONTANA FALCON (7) is never far from the action in these type of races. Taking on a mid-week FFA on Tues he was only 3m from MAJESTIC MAJOR and can swoop home off a hot tempo. SELECTIONS: OVERLAP (8), MAX RICHTER (1), MIND THE WIRE (10), MONTANA FALCON (7) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-7-8-10
RACE EIGHT POMPIDOU (5) started fav here on Tues from inside the 2nd line and his chances were severely dented when shuffled back along the pegs soon after the start. Only 4m from MOJO MAJOR 4 starts back when working in the run, he can roll forward and controlling this race from the breeze will prove hard to stop. MONUMENTAL (1) was attacking the line strongly here 3 starts back and was only 1.5m from the winner LIKEALLOFUS. Buried away at his next start he never saw space to offer and last start fought on behind the smart winner COME CULLECT. From the gate with a cosy trip he will be closing out strongly and can land the winning blow. MONARKMAC (9) took on the Christmas Cup at Redcliffe on Wed night and wasn’t too far off them. That followed a 2m 2nd to MY ELUSIVE DREAM and settling handy here he can feature. WYNBERG TERROR (2) was taken back from gate 5 last week and ended up a long way back on the pegs and never offered. From this gate he can go straight to the front and look to dictate.
SELECTIONS: POMPIDOU (5), MONUMENTAL (1), MONARKMAC (9), WYNBERG TERROR (2) SUGGESTED BET: POMPIDOU (5) to win
RACE NINE GOTTA GLOW (10) was sent forward from the 2nd line here 3 starts back and working hard in the run proved too strong to take a half-neck victory in a career best rate. Her last start 3rd behind the smart COME CULLECT was a strong effort from gate 7 and in this line-up she can look to overpower them. HEAVENS HINT (6) shoots for the hat-trick after successive Redcliffe wins the latest an impressive win when making a late move and racing straight on past them as a red figure fav. She has been in the top 3 at 8 of her past 10 starts, with 3 wins in that period and earns her shot at this. THE MUSE (8) will be fitter for her return to the track last start where she came with a well-timed run wide on the track and cruised past the leaders to taken an 8m victory. She will need some luck from the gate. CALL ME YOURS (1) started from this gate 4 starts back and after securing the trail held on to take the silver behind MOONLIGHT EYRE. She met some handy ones at her next 2 and has claims from the gate.
SELECTIONS: GOTTA GLOW (10), HEAVENS HINT (6), THE MUSE (8), CALL ME YOURS (1) SUGGESTED BET: GOTTA GLOW (10) to win
RACE TEN SHADOW PASS (6) started his Aust career with 3 successive wins with an impressive Redcliffe win followed by strong Marburg wins. 3rd on the grass at Warwick 2 starts back, he had little luck in the Marburg heats of this final when he didn’t see open road. Despite the wider gate he will take some stopping. ITS ALL GO (1) shoots for a hat-trick of victories after an all the way win at Redcliffe from gate 2 was followed with a half-neck victory in his heat when settling behind the leader and finding the space to angle into clear air and arrive in time. With the options from the gate he will be in the mix. JUST SAY GO (11) will strip fitter following his run from the 2nd line in the heat which was his 1st run back from a 7 month break. He will need some luck in the run but can feature. MY CHANGE OF HEART (8) started from gate 1 in the heat and looked to lead them all the way, grabbed late to finish 3m. With a cosy trip here she can follow the pegs and fill the exotics.
SELECTIONS: SHADOW PASS (6), ITS ALL GO (1), JUST SAY GO (11), MY CHANGE OF HEART (8) SUGGESTED BET: SHADOW PASS (6) to win
RACE ELEVEN RELEVEN DREAM (9) was desperately unlucky not to win the DJA Final last week when looming up and putting the leader away before being grabbed late to go under a half-head. That followed a 3rd in the 2nd round heats behind BLAZING UNDER FIRE. He looks hard to stop in this after last week’s run. SENITAS SUCCESS (7) stepped cleanly from wide on the track in the 2nd round of the DJA and looking to lead throughout over the 2138m trip he set a solid tempo before fading in the latter stages. He was working home nicely in the final to be 7m from the winner and with a safe beginning will be right in the fight. STONED AGAIN (4) has mixed his 4 Qld starts with 2 strong efforts and 2 where he has struck trouble. With a safe start he can get his way into a handy position and can run a cheeky race in this grade. MR MAYFLY (8) went into the DJA series off a freshen and didn’t have the best of luck in the 2 heats and subsequently missed the final. If he brings his best to this he will be a big danger.
SELECTIONS: RELEVEN DREAM (9), SENITAS SUCCESS (7), STONED AGAIN (4), MR MAYFLY (8) SUGGESTED BET: RELEVEN DREAM (9) to win
