Racing Queensland and the Brisbane Racing Club have met with industry stakeholders to discuss Thursday’s announcement that additional time would be allowed for the Eagle Farm track remediation project.
Members of the remediation Project Control Group (PCG) provided participants with an update on the project, and answered questions about the materials and the method used.
The announcement, made after extensive consultation with stakeholders and independent racing consultants, aims to ensure Eagle Farm returns to its rightful place as Queensland’s premier racetrack.
Brisbane’s leading trainer Tony Gollan told the ABC he felt the decision to make the announcement more than six months ahead of the 2018 Queensland Winter Racing Carnival was the right one.
“It gives trainers and participants some certainty as to where the meetings are going and how the carnival is going to take shape,” he said.
All turf has been removed from Eagle Farm and work on the sub profile has been completed.
The new profile for the track is currently undergoing a stringent testing regime to ensure improved stability and necessary filtration rates are met. Further testing will be carried out prior to the course proper being turfed.
Racing Queensland will continue to keep participants informed throughout the remediation process.
