Former Ipswich-based greyhound BLACK RUSKY is enjoying the tropical north and will be hard to beat in the opening heat of the RQ Young Guns Tve series in Townsville tonight. Experienced South Queensland trainer Tom Tzouvelis has sent BLACK RUSKY to the care of Gumlow trainer Brad Belford, temporarily at this stage.
BLACK RUSKY has drawn the coveted box 1 in the second of three heats the Tella Photography RQ Young Guns Tve (380m) at 9.22pm. “He’s thriving up here,” Brad said.
“Box one will help, too... Tommy was keen to see how he goes up here. He’ll have a couple of runs then we’ll decide if he stays in North Queensland.”
BLACK RUSKY won his first start at Townsville on March 24. Popular local trainer Rhonda Essery has 10 greyhounds contesting the heats: BIG HUEY (1), GO FREDDY GO (4), RHONDA’S DOUGIE (6) and ISOLA BELLA (7) in the first heat; PAPPA DOES MAMBO (3), RHONDA’S YOGI (5) and BLAZING BLUE (8) in the second and LICORICE SHOT (2), MAGIC DOUG (5) and RHONDA’S BEAR (6) in the third. *Gamble Responsibly.
