RACE TWO
ARNOLD (10) returns from a spell to have his 2nd Qld start since arriving from NZ. His run to finish 2nd when having his 1st outing was off the charts, making an error at the start of the 2138m mobile, the ground he made up was unfathomable. Trialling nicely to prepare, he can make a winning return. MAJESTIC SIMON (12) is starting to learn what the racing caper is all about and his past 3 starts have been more tractable efforts. A winner 3 back from a 10m tape he has been doing his best work in the latter stages at his past 2 to grab the bronze in each. With even luck he can be descending late. MISTER OZ (8) has found some rhythm since arriving in a new stable and shoots for a hat-trick of victories here. A 13m winner last start from the 10m, he will be right in the fight here. SMOKEY NOVA (2) rolled forward to take control here 2 starts back over this trip when nabbed in the closing stages by MISTER OZ. Better suited back to AP after a Redcliffe start, she can feature. SELECTIONS: ARNOLD (10), MAJESTIC SIMON (12), MISTER OZ (8), SMOKEY NOVA (2) SUGGESTED BET: ARNOLD (10) to win
RACE THREE
SOMWHEREOVARAINBOW (7) has the wide gate to overcome, yet with just a front-line to contend with, can secure the right run in transit. 1st up from a freshen last start and with all the tempo set up front, was close enough to strike in the latter stages and finish over the top. He can repeat here. COOL SCOOTER (3) was able to find the pocket trail from gate 5 here 2 starts back and was in for the chase when finishing 3m from the winner. Last start he was forced to roll the sleeves to do all the work outside the leader and was still fighting in the closing stages when beaten 6m. He can challenge. ROYAL LINCOLN (2) will strip fitter following his latest outing where he was resuming from a freshen. Finding the front from gate 2, he was fighting to be a neck from the winner and is in the mix here. IM NORMA JEAN (1) made the most of conditions last start and after controlling a steady tempo from the start, she was able to hold on for victory. With the options from the gate she has claims. SELECTIONS: SOMWHEREOVARAINBOW (7), COOL SCOOTER (3), ROYAL LINCOLN (2), IM NORMA JEAN (1) SUGGESTED BET: SOMWHEREOVARAINBOW (7) to win
RACE FOUR IL MAXIMUS (1) will take great benefit from his debut when holding on for the silver from this same gate. Settling in the trail he was green but he finished nicely when finding open space in the stretch. With the benefit of a similar run in transit, he can look to make the closing shot a winning one. SIR BULSKI (2) was in for the fight on debut and despite getting a bit wayward in the latter stages, went down swinging when beaten a head. He found the line strongly last start when working home from the 1x1 trail and with the added experience can look to get to the pegs to take control. ANOTHER STATEMENT (9) is a by the super-sire Bettors Delight out of Elle M Aye, making him a full brother to the talented Make A Statement and Statement Made. Trialling in good order against older horses, he stays under notice. BROKEN ARK (5) started fav last time out from inside the 2nd line when 6m from the winner GIRL ON THE GO. He led them up from gate 4 the start prior and can be thereabouts again here.
SELECTIONS: IL MAXIMUS (1), SIR BULSKI (2), ANOTHER STATEMENT (9), BROKEN ARK (5) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE FIVE
SOUTHERN ALPS (7) has plenty of convictions in recent starts, having made errors from both the stand start and the mobile. At his best, this is a race well within in reach, with his run 3 starts back showing he is up to the task if putting it together when he charged home to be 7m away. A risk, he is worth a chance.
JEDDY R YA READY (3) will appreciate moving to the front line here after coming from marks his past 2. A winner here 5 starts back from the front when settling in the pocket trail and using the passing lane to score, his past 2 runs to grab the silver have been full of merit and he can challenge in this. NORTHERN MUSCLE (10) started fav last time out under mobile conditions and from gate 7 was sent to the breeze, fading in the closing stages. Only beaten a half-head in a tougher race 2 back, he has claims.
EL SWAVO (4) started from the 20m tape last start and was forced to work hard when circling to the breeze and carrying a flat tyre. He closed nicely for the silver 2 starts back and has podium hopes. SELECTIONS: SOUTHERN ALPS (7), JEDDY R YA READY (3), NORTHERN MUSCLE (10), EL SWAVO (4) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE SIX REGULUS (5) lines up after being scratched when engaged in the same race as ESCALERA last week. He brutalised his opponents 2 starts back in a power running display, scoring by 37m. Heading back to NSW last start, he returned a tough run in the breeze when beaten a head and can prevail here. HIPSTAR (6) started from inside the 2nd line last start and settling in the pocket trail packed too many guns in the closing stages to arrive via the passing lane. That was his 1st run following a braved effort in the Triad Final when only beaten 5m and despite the tough alley, he is right in the fight. ESCALERA (7) has a great record here at AP, having missed a top-two just twice in 10 appearances. An easy winner last start after controlling from gate 1, he faces a test from the top of the track here. BANGKOK BRAVADO (3) was locked on the pegs last start and worked home well when ESCALERA was able to rip home in 27.4 from the front. With a better gate than the big guns, he can chime in.
SELECTIONS: REGULUS (5), HIPSTAR (6), ESCALERA (7), BANGKOK BRAVADO (3) SUGGESTED BET: REGULUS (5) to win
RACE SEVEN
HEZ ALL COURAGE (1) went to the pegs to take the cheap trip over the 2138m 2 starts back and with the gaps opening, sprinted hard to arrive for the prize. Last start he was snagged back from gate 7 before sprinting hard to grab the silver behind PACIFIC DRUMS. He can be coiled and ready to strike. PINUP BOY (2) ended a run of 12 successive top-3 results last start when he was caught wide and forced to retreat as a short priced fav over the middle distance. Strong from the breeze 2 starts back when a fighting 2nd to TENNYSON BROMAC, he can look to take control and will be gripping on. TENNYSON BROMAC (8) completed a hat-trick of victories last start after settling in the running line and finishing best to score. The gate will make it tricky here and he will be probing for the openings. SPRING CAMPAIGN (9) finished best from a 2nd line gate to claim victory over this trip 2 runs back and then last start made an error in the Armidale Cup. Freshened, he can chime in late here. SELECTIONS: HEZ ALL COURAGE (1), PINUP BOY (2), TENNYSON BROMAC (8), SPRING CAMPAIGN (9) SUGGESTED BET: HEZ ALL COURAGE (1) to win
RACE EIGHT IMTHE GOLDEN CHILD (9) rolled forward from gate 5 looking for position last start when slotting into the running line before having to make his run at the 600m. Under the solid tempo he couldn’t go with it. He charged home 2 starts back and with this a more suitable target, he can arrive. CRACKA STRIDE (2) was angled to the pegs from a 2nd line gate last start and was solid to the line in a strong closing 800m. He couldn’t find position the start prior and his run 3 back was full of merit when doing the hard yards in the breeze when 3rd to A GOOD CHANCE. He is right in the fight. CHAPER ONE (12) looked to take them all the way 2 starts back and was fighting hard when grabbed on the line and beaten a half-neck. Freshened after that run, he will be tightened from his last start. LIKEALLOFUS (3) has been a bit hit and miss this campaign, but from the alley, can look to tuck in early. If the tempo is too hard and sets it up for a swooper, he can look to capitalise.
SELECTIONS: IMTHE GOLDEN CHILD (9), CRACKA STRIDE (2), CHAPER ONE (12), LIKEALLOFUS (3) SUGGESTED BET: IMTHE GOLDEN CHILD (9) to win
RACE NINE LAUGHING EMOJI (1) has had 3 runs since returning from a break and should be close to fully fit. Last start over the mile she was forced to work hard in the breeze and was fighting hard in a slick last 800m to finish mid-field. Buried in the run when resuming, taking on her own sex is a big plus here. TAYLAH STUDLEIGH (8) will be sweating on the 1 looking to lead throughout, placing her 1 position closer to allow the final shot in the stretch. Shooting for a hat-trick of wins after claiming victory over the AP mile and then at Redcliffe, she has found it tough her past 3. She can be sharper here. SACHE GIRL (10) settled with the 1x1 trail last week and was able to arrive for the prize after sprinting hard down the stretch. With a similar type trip on offer here she can be thereabouts. JUST DEAL IT (5) should appreciate racing her own sex here following a luckless run last start when stuck in traffic. Forced to work in the breeze the start prior, she can chime in here.
SELECTIONS: LAUGHING EMOJI (1), TAYLAH STUDLEIGH (8), SACHE GIRL (10), JUST DEAL IT (5) SUGGESTED BET: LAUGHING EMOJI (1) to win
