RACE TWO
THATS BETTOR (2) will take good benefit from her latest start when returning from a break. With 2 attempts at a 3YO return abandoned after 1 start on each occasion, she was game at her latest attempt when facing the breeze outside STAR OF MONTANA. Pressing ahead, she looks hard to beat. COBALT BLUES (1) broke his maiden tag last start when circling them early from the 2nd line over the Marburg sprint trip and proving too strong in claiming victory. He was building towards that win following 2nds in 3 of his previous 4 and from the gate can look to build on the victory. MAJOR SLIP UP (10) was game in fighting for the silver at Marburg last start when wide from the 2nd line in a new track record set by MAYWYN NO REGRETS. With even luck he has some claims. LITTLELIONELJAMES (8) opened his account 2 starts back when making the most of barrier 1 to take them all the way. His run last start was a tidy effort and with a soft trip can be probing for gaps. SELECTIONS: THATS BETTOR (2), COBALT BLUES (1), MAJOR SLIP UP (10), LITTLELIONELJAMES (8) SUGGESTED BET: THATS BETTOR (2) to win
RACE THREE
RAGING INFERNO (2) opened his Qld ledger in the best possible way when taking them all the way at Redcliffe to score a comfortable win over the sprint trip. Gunned down when setting a strong tempo 2nd up, his run at Marburg off the 2nd line was full of merit and from gate 2 can bounce back. GOLDDIGGER GIRL (12) has been freshened since her last appearance, with her 3 starts this campaign coming after a break of over 40 months from the track. Runner-up in all 3 appearances since returning, the past 2 have been strong and despite the gate, can’t be discounted in this line-up. MEANT TO BE ME (1) led them up last start from gate 2 and after setting an even tempo couldn’t see it out. With the benefit of a cosy trip on offer, look for her taking the closing shot. DAPPER BESSIE (9) found the pegs last start and buried away was solid to the line when 9m from the winner. With the right trail through early in this, she can chime into the exotics. SELECTIONS: RAGING INFERNO (2), GOLDDIGGER GIRL (12), MEANT TO BE ME (1), DAPPER BESSIE (9) SUGGESTED BET: RAGING INFERNO (2) to win
RACE FOUR SNAKES AND LADDERS (11) resumes from a spell and will face the starter for the 1st time in 2019. His run 3 starts back was a tidy effort when wide off the track for a long way and his next putting he didn’t have much luck. Trialling nicely for the return, this race is wide open and he is worth a ticket. DONT CALL ME (10) settled in the running line from gate 2 last start at Bathurst and was left a little flat footed when the speed went on through the final 400m. Not suited when working in the run at his previous 2 starts, he can start his Sunshine State sojourn in the right way. BAMBOLE NERE (8) started in red figures at Redcliffe 2 starts back and racing wide the last lap, couldn’t reel in the deficit. Not suited last start at Marburg, she just needs some luck here to feature. ARES (5) looked to have found his race last start from gate 1 over the sprint trip at Marburg, but after leading them up couldn’t finish them off. This is a shade easier and he is in the mix.
SELECTIONS: SNAKES AND LADDERS (11), DONT CALL ME (10), BAMBOLE NERE (8), ARES (5) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE FIVE
CASINO GRIN (3) was forced to roll the sleeves and do it the tough way in the breeze last start over the mile. In for the fight he went down swinging when 1.5m from the winner MAKOA in a tough performance. Only beaten a head 3 starts back, he can use his gate speed to take control here. ITS JUST KENNY (6) was snagged back last start from gate 7 to look for luck in the run. With the race set for a sprint home, he was always facing a task from back in the pack. His run 2 back was full of merit in a mid-week FFA and despite a wide alley, will be throwing down the challenge. IM WITH LEXY (1) was a long way back in the run over the mile last start and then struck trouble, ending her chances. Not suited 2 starts back when restrained from gate 7, the gate suits here. RUATO BAY (2) took the pocket trail from gate 1 over the short course at Marburg 2 starts back and was charging home when beaten a neck. The effort was sound from gate 12 last start and he has claims. SELECTIONS: CASINO GRIN (3), ITS JUST KENNY (6), IM WITH LEXY (1), RUATO BAY (2) SUGGESTED BET: CASINO GRIN (3) to win
RACE SIX CAVALRYMAN (2) started from inside the 2nd line at Marburg last start and was quickly away from the pegs to avoid any risk of a pocket. Working home wide off the track he packed too many bullets to claim an 8m margin with a further 12m back to 3rd. He can look to take control from the gate. VILLAGE CRUISER (8) found his race 2 starts back at Redcliffe and from the pocket trail was too strong in the stretch to claim the prize. Not suited last start when working in the early stages he faded late from the effort. With a cosy trip on offer, look for him probing for openings. ALWAYS AT NIGHT (4) worked home nicely from back in the pack to score at Redcliffe last start over the 2280m. From the gate he can settle handy and in a race that is not overly deep, can feature. JOHNNYCAKE (11) was angled to the pegs from a 2nd line gate last start to get the short-cuts on the way home when finding the line well. Better suited back to the mile, with even luck he can place.
SELECTIONS: CAVALRYMAN (2), VILLAGE CRUISER (8), ALWAYS AT NIGHT (4), JOHNNYCAKE (11) SUGGESTED BET: CAVALRYMAN (2) to win
RACE SEVEN
TAXI METER (2) had a shot for the front last start and when he couldn't quite get there was forced to cut the breeze. The start prior from gate 1 he took the trail and with the cosy trip held on for the silver behind KEY LARGO. He can fire the 1st shot to find the pegs and looks to get his chance. IMA ROCKNROLL DIVA (12) resumes from a spill and will be having her first start in Qld. Last time out when shooting for a hat trick of Penrith victories she secured the pocket trail and chased gamely in a strong closing 800m behind JUICE BROGDEN. The gate hurts but she can be swooping hard. MONTANA CHIEF (10) scored a strong win at Marburg 2 starts back when working home wide off the track through a slick 3rd panel, holding on to score. His run was strong last start and can feature. MISS CATALINA (1) held on for 2nd last start at Tamworth after taking the trial from gate 1. A tidy winner there 4 starts back, she will get the right trip here and can chime in when the gaps open. SELECTIONS: TAXI METER (2), IMA ROCKNROLL DIVA (12), MONTANA CHIEF (10), MISS CATALINA (1) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE EIGHT COULDNTBETOLD (8) made the most of gate 1 over the longer 2280m trip last start and taking control was able to lead throughout to score. That was a solid bounce back after making errors at his previous 2 in succession and coiled in the trail can be ready to strike here. INVITE ONLY (4) started fav last time out from gate 1 when looking to lead all the way. Setting it up for a scamper home, she couldn’t hold off the finishing power of MISTER BLACKJACK and had to settle for 2nd. Fitter for the outing after being 2nd up from a break, she is in the fight again here. SPRINGFIELD SPIRIT (11) has raced at AP on 8 occasions and while he has yet to taste success, he has been able to place on 5 occasions. The gate hurts, but with even luck in transit he can chime in. JACKS AT THE BEACH (10) wasn’t suited last start over the 2138m and couldn’t go on with it when down the line behind TENNYSON BROMAC. Not far from that same winner 2 runs back, he can place.
SELECTIONS: COULDNTBETOLD (8), INVITE ONLY (4), SPRINGFIELD SPIRIT (11), JACKS AT THE BEACH (10) SUGGESTED BET: COULDNTBETOLD (8) to win
