The maximum field size for all mobile races at Albion Park during the Redcliffe Paceway outage will be capped at 10 from September 1.
Earlier today, Racing Queensland, in conjunction with the Albion Park Harness Racing Club, announced the measure to accommodate an expected reduction of standardbreds in work while a $300,000 track up-grade is delivered at Redcliffe.
At the start of the month, RQ announced that a new racing surface would be provided at Redcliffe, forcing a number of programming changes including the majority of meetings being transferred to Albion Park.
Throughout September and early October, Thursday meetings will be staged at Albion Park, while the traditional Wednesday night meetings at Redcliffe will now be run on Monday afternoons.
Albion Park will host all of those except for Monday, September 9 which will be staged at Marburg.
While the Redcliffe Showgrounds will serve as a training facility during the outage, preliminary indications point to a reduction in the active racehorse population throughout September, leading to the decision to cap field sizes during this period.
There will be no changes to field size limits for standing start events.
