RACE TWO
GEE UP NEDDY (7) backs up from Sat night where he was 3rd up from a break. His 1st up effort was tough when facing the breeze over the 2138m and within 6f the winner SOUTHERN ALPS. He didn’t get things to plan when 2nd up and from the 20m in this line-up can look to breakthrough. LANSBURY (1) secured the pocket trail over the longer trip here last week and using the passing lane was 8m from the winner MATATOKI. A winner here over the 2647m 5 starts back when arriving in time, her next 3 were all from the 10m tape. Back to the front and a cosy trip, she can challenge. NORTHERN MUSCLE (8) was a smart winner when returning from a freshen 2 starts back, attacking the line sharply to score. Sent to the breeze over the long trip last start, he faded late and is in the mix again. ALS LAW (2) was within 10m of the winner EMPIRE BAY 2 starts back which had followed a tidy effort off the 20m tape. Backing up from a tidy effort on Sat night, off the front he is right in this. SELECTIONS: GEE UP NEDDY (7), LANSBURY (1), NORTHERN MUSCLE (8), ALS LAW (2) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-2-7-8
RACE THREE
TARGARYEN HANOVER (2) started at a red figure quote last start from the five-hole when sent to the breeze and working in the run, couldn’t see it out to be 3.5m from the winner. Placed 7 times as he searches for the elusive victory, if able to dictate over the longer trip, today might be the day. OCEANSIDE (1) was on debut last week from this same gate at the mile when taking cover before making a challenge up the passing lane. Looming strongly, he was gathered in late by GUY LOOKS GOOD, holding down a 3m 2nd. With the added experience and a soft trip, he can take his shot. SIR BULSKI (5) eased back early from gate 7 last start and when making his run from a long way back was hitting the line in good style to be 4m in arrears. Improving all the time, he will be in the mix. BLACKJACK BART (6) was close to tens on last start at Redcliffe at just his 2nd career outing when nabbed late and beaten a head. With further experience he won’t be far away here.
SELECTIONS: TARGARYEN HANOVER (2), OCEANSIDE (1), SIR BULSKI (5), BLACKJACK BART (6) SUGGESTED BET: TARGARYEN HANOVER (2) to win
RACE FOUR THE DOORMAN (3) trialled in nice order in readiness for his 1st start in Qld and transferred that to race day when scoring a comfortable victory. Away from inside the 2nd line he was quickly sent forward and taking control was an easy 10m victor. With the benefit of that he can go again. JUST ONE GOOD ONE (2) makes his Aus debut for the Turpin barn and arrives a 1 win pacer. Not seen since Nov 2018, that was a 1 start prep, with the previous outing back in April of 2018. With a tidy trial against some better credentialled performers, the fitness is the obvious query. OUR DOUG (7) was eased back from gate 4 at Redcliffe last start and was attacking the line strongly to get within a half-neck of the winner. Too smart the start prior, look for him swooping late. THE RAGNBONE MAN (1) will take good benefit from his latest start when 2nd up from a break and only nabbed right on the line after looking to lead throughout, beaten a half-head. With a soft trip he can feature.
SELECTIONS: THE DOORMAN (3), JUST ONE GOOD ONE (2), OUR DOUG (7), THE RAGNBONE MAN (1) SUGGESTED BET: THE DOORMAN (3) to win
RACE FIVE
5 of the 8 combatants in this claimer battled in each other in the same race on Fri, with the draws this time around almost reversed. WATTLEBANK FLYER (1) started from gate 10 on Fri when attacking the line strongly and scoring a smart victory. Charging home 2 back, he looks set for the perfect trip here to arrive. CASINO TOMMY (8) was looking tom make it 4 on the bounce on Fri when landing gate 7. A winner from that alley 3 starts back over the mile when sent to the breeze and packing too many guns, he followed that with an all the way win over the 2138m from gate 4. With early options he can feature. ONE WISE MAN (4) should appreciate the improved gate after facing some wider starting positions in recent starts. His run 2 back had merit when snagged back from gate 7 and he is right in the mix. RORY MACH (2) was luckless in a stronger Band assessed event 2 runs back, looking for gaps that never arrived and only finishing 5m in arrears. Settling handy from this gate he won’t be far away.
SELECTIONS: WATTLEBANK FLYER (1), CASINO TOMMY (8), ONE WISE MAN (4), RORY MACH (2) SUGGESTED BET: WATTLEBANK FLYER (1) to win
RACE SIX MAKOA (5) has been freshened since his last outing when sent forward early from gate 5 and doing some work in the early stages was still fighting in the stretch to go under by 2m behind CRUZ. That had followed a tough 3rd from the breeze when beaten a head. A versatile type, this looks winnable. MACEY JADE (3) will step out in Qld for the 1st time under race conditions after joining the astute Stephen Cini barn. Taking on some smart mares in Victoria through the recent VicBred Series, she has been in the money at 8 of 16 this season and with a smart trial to prepare, can give a sight 1st up. WITHALOTOFLUCK (4) was an all the way winner here 4 starts back when making the most of gate 2 when taking control and holding on to score. Luckless in 3 starts since from tough gates, he can bounce back here. ITS JUST KENNY (6) found a suitable target here 3 starts back when pressing on to take control over the mile and keep them chasing. Only 3m away at his next start, he wasn’t far from TENNYSON BROMAC last start and can chime in here.
SELECTIONS: MAKOA (5), MACEY JADE (3), WITHALOTOFLUCK (4), ITS JUST KENNY (6) SUGGESTED BET: MAKOA (5) to win
RACE SEVEN
OUTLAW FELLA (9) was sent for a let-up after his last start 2nd when huge in defeat. Setting the tempo over the mile, he was only grabbed late by the swooping KETUT in a brutal 1.51.5 mile. That followed a tough run in the breeze over the 2138m and following through early looks to get his chance. BELLS BEACH HOUSE (2) couldn’t get across from this gate last start and was forced to roll the sleeves in the breeze over the 2138m trip, fading under the pressure in the closing stages. His run the start prior from gate 7 was a tidy effort and back to the mile can look to take control here.
SIR JULIAN (6) was snagged back from this gate last start and was buried back in the pack against the poles. Hitting the line in good style, it followed a nice return run 2 back. Look for him probing for openings.
SELECTIONS: OUTLAW FELLA (9), BELLS BEACH HOUSE (2), SIR JULIAN (6), SUGGESTED BET: OUTLAW FELLA (9)
RACE EIGHT GUNRNEEDABIGRBOAT (9) had put the writing on the wall with some big runs and cashed-in of the back of those when scoring last start. Rolling forward to take control 2 starts back, he was in for the fight when 5m from the smart SPEECH IS SILVER. Too tough last start, he looks hard to beat in this. THATS HOW WEROLL (7) doesn’t have any favours from this gate, but with his pattern of being saved for 1 run, if he can find position cheaply he will be ready to swoop home. From gate 10 last start he attacked the line strongly when only beaten a neck and can challenge late again. IMA BIRUBI BOY (5) started from gate 11 over the mile last start and was hitting the line in good order to be 6m from the winner BARRETT. The 2138m is the query but he can be thereabouts. AMILLION PROMISES (2) returns off a freshen and was last seen when starting fav and grabbed in the closing stages by CC JONES. Luckless the start prior from gate 7, he will be in the fight here.
SELECTIONS: GUNRNEEDABIGRBOAT (9), THATS HOW WEROLL (7), IMA BIRUBI BOY (5), AMILLION PROMISES (2) SUGGESTED BET: GUNRNEEDABIGRBOAT (9) to win
