The new training partnership of Chris Anderson and Rob Heathcote is hopeful its run of good fortune will continue with its Ipswich team on Friday.
The Anderson-Heathcote team landed its 42nd win since the partnership began on May 1 when talented three-year-old Profit was successful at the Sunshine Coast on Wednesday.
The win took the pair to the top of the Queensland metropolitan trainers premiership with 8 wins, a half win lead over reigning premier trainer Tony Gollan.
“The partnership with Rob is going super,” Anderson said.
“We didn’t expect it to go as well as this but there’s been a lot of hard work behind the scenes.
“A lot of people think being in a partnership makes things easier but it doesn’t and I’ve never worked as hard in my life.
“It’s just that we do things more efficiently now.”
Anderson is hopeful to be in the winner’s stall again at Ipswich and rated Madame Mo and Penasquito as the stable’s best hopes.
Madame Mo and stablemate Let’s Conquer will clash in the QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap (1350m) while Penasquito lines up in the Class 1 Handicap (1350m).
Madame Mo drew in the middle of the field and has finished fourth at her only two starts at Ipswich and the Sunshine Coast this month.
“Madame Mo will appreciate the step up in distance and she’s got a good staying pedigree,” Anderson said.
Penasquito has drawn awkwardly in barrier 11 but will jump from closer in if the emergencies don’t obtain runs.
The son of Spirit Of Boom tried to lead all the way last start when caught late for second to the Brian Smith-trained Full Nelson in a Class One Handicap (1300m) at the Gold Coast two weeks ago.
“He’s drawn poorly but he’s been racing consistently and like Madame Mo is a good each-way chance,” Anderson said.
Anderson also is hopeful Coach can bounce back to winning form in the Class Three Plate (1690m).
Coach, a son of Denman, has started 10 times for two wins but could manage only ninth to Enterprise Prince in a 1350-metre Class Two at Ipswich on August 7.
“He’s third up and is stepping up to 1600 metres with a nice draw,” Anderson said.
“He was a shade disappointing last start but he did run into a bit of trouble.
“I’m not sure Ipswich is a suitable track for him but hopefully he can bounce back.”
