RACE TWO
THERESACHANCE (2) had to fork out 28.4 sec to take the honours of lighting the lamps last start and despite being able to back it right off to 32 sec in the 2nd stanza, his reserves were depleted. Clinging on to be 5m from the winner MAYWYNS BEST, if he can reduce the spend early, he can see this out. SABRAGE (6) makes his Qld debut and will be 1st up since Sept when striking trouble at Menangle. Trialling here last week, he looked sharp in opening the pipes and earning his return ticket to the races. Despite the tough gate, he strikes the right type of conditions to challenge 1st up. THE GOLDEN CROSS (4) did some early work from gate 5 last start before finding cover, yet had no answer for the dictating winner PINUP BOY. Finding cheap position, he is a chance at career start 100. RANDOM TASK (8) made a mess of it in the early stages last start and his race was over before it even started. He found the line in nicely the start prior from the 2nd line and he can make amends. SELECTIONS: THERESACHANCE (2), SABRAGE (6), THE GOLDEN CROSS (4), RANDOM TASK (8) SUGGESTED BET: THERESACHANCE (2) to win
RACE THREE
COMMODORE JUJON (8) will take plenty of benefit from his return to the track last time out when 1st up for the 4YO term. Eased back from gate 6 to find position, he had the closing power to round them up and arrive for a smart win. Yet to miss the board in 4 starts here at Redcliffe, he can arrive. OUR LITTLE GIRL (3) shoots for the hat-trick after wins here and then again last start at Marburg. Sent forward in a mid-race move from the 2nd line to take control over the Marburg sprint trip, she had too much in reserve to fight them off. From the good gate, she can get forward and can go close. PURPLE SHADES (1) settled in the pocket trail from inside the 2nd line last time out and chased hard to grab the bronze behind COMMODORE JUJON. With the early options he can probe for a placing. TORQUE IS MY GIRL (7) will need a slice of luck as she looks set to be locked away on the poles in transit here. A tidy winner when 1st up from a spell here 2 starts back, she won’t be far away.
SELECTIONS: COMMODORE JUJON (8), OUR LITTLE GIRL (3), PURPLE SHADES (1), TORQUE IS MY GIRL (7) SUGGESTED BET: COMMODORE JUJON (8) to win
RACE FOUR MY CARMEN (1) should take some benefit from her 1st look at the triangle under race conditions last time out. Starting fav from gate 6, she was sent forward and cutting the breeze over the 2040m, faded in the closing stages to finish beyond mid-field. Back to the sprint from the ace, she can atone. LETHAL STAR (5) is racing well of late and has been around the money without getting the reward. From the pocket trail last start, she was within 2m of the leader and winner SOCIAL MEDIA and 3 starts back loomed up and looked to have it in the bag, yet was nosed out. Mares only suits. SPECIAL RESERVE (4) eased back from this same gate last start and chased hard to be just out of the placings behind ALE ALE KAI. A beaten fav the start prior, she will also appreciate conditions here. SWAFFHAM WATER (8) was snagged back from gate 5 at Marburg last time out and things didn’t go to plan after that, yet the effort had merit to be mid-field. With some luck she can be thereabouts.
SELECTIONS: MY CARMEN (1), LETHAL STAR (5), SPECIAL RESERVE (4), SWAFFHAM WATER (8) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE FIVE
ALOT OF COST (3) will be further tightened from his latest appearance when 3rd up from a break. Settling back in the pack from the 2nd line gate, he packed too many guns in the stretch to arrive in time to claim a neck victory. Grabbed in the closing stages when 2nd up, he can look to dictate in this. BETTOR BECAUSE (4) started from gate 10 last start and didn’t have things go her way, facing some obstacles in the run after being sent to the post as fav. 2nd up in that contest, her return run in a mares only race was a smart effort when hitting the line strongly. She can challenge here. BUKTHSYSTEM (1) is effective when securing a cosy trip and saved for a closing shot and finds conditions to match the pattern here. He hasn’t been too far away of late and will be probing. JUST ROKIN (10) isn’t afforded any favours from gate 10, but these are easier opponents than what she has been facing. Within 4m of THE GUN ROCKSTAR 2 starts back, she can close strongly.
SELECTIONS: ALOT OF COST (3), BETTOR BECAUSE (4), BUKTHSYSTEM (1), JUST ROKIN (10) SUGGESTED BET: ALOT OF COST (3) to win
RACE SIX THATS FUNNY (2) was obliged to press forward from gate 5 to race tough in the breeze last start over the 2040m trip and just faded in the closing stages, although not aided by losing some momentum when locking wheels for a few strides. With the improved gate and back to the mile, Rod Stewart can break into chorus. CANNAN (3) found the front early before releasing and opting for the trail here last week over the 2040m. Chasing hard to hold on for the bronze in that event, the placing made it 3 from his past 4 in the money and from the good alley once will be in the fight. ZARAS ALL SMILES (8) returns from a spell to start her 4YO term and comes into this without a public trial to prepare. Not too far away last start, she can be thereabouts and will take benefit from the run. ROCK THE HOUSE (1) didn’t have the cleanest passage last time out when taking on the Marburg 1850m trip. He did his share of work here 2 starts back and with the peg-line benefits has claims.
SELECTIONS: THATS FUNNY (2), CANNAN (3), ZARAS ALL SMILES (8), ROCK THE HOUSE (1) SUGGESTED BET: THATS FUNNY (2) to win
RACE SEVEN
LAZY BLAZE (7) was stuck wide off the track from gate 3 last start and was forced to retreat to the rear to find position. With a well-time challenged, he was able to pack too many guns in the stretch to arrive for a stylish win. If he can sight the lane with momentum, he can zoom on by against these. RITCHIE BEE (5) should appreciate this class of contest as he has been able to work his way back to this type of race. Not ideally suited from the 2nd line last start, his previous 2 runs, both from gate 3, had merit when not too far away. Although the five-hole is a little sticky here, this is within reach. DELIGHT OF RANI (1) started from inside the 2nd line last start and probably cost himself victory when laying in up the stretch, falling a nose hair short of victory. Having shown gate speed in a recent trial, he has the favours in this. FUI FUI (8) was snagged back from a wide gate at Marburg last time out and then in the closing stages was not really making any ground. Back to an inside run here, he can take the short-cuts.
SELECTIONS: LAZY BLAZE (7), RITCHIE BEE (5), DELIGHT OF RANI (1), FUI FUI (8) SUGGESTED BET: LAZY BLAZE (7) to win
RACE EIGHT MISTER DECORUM (4) was 3rd up in Qld when taking on the 1850m at Marburg last start from gate 5. Rolling forward to the breeze and proving too strong in seeing them all off, he claimed a tough win. He might need to be working again but he should improve from that win and can go again. WILLSINTOWN (5) speared out to take the lamp lighting duties over the sprint trip last start from this same gate, but couldn’t see it out when fading in the stretch. With the speed to again find the top here, he will then have some options and if able to control the tempo, is a chance of taking this. BETTOR WATCH HIM (7) will be needing a rub of the green at some stage to sight a gap and work into clear air. Fading after a tough run last start in the breeze, a softer trip here is in his favour. ONYA DOUG (8) chased hard from this same gate last start and chimed in to grab the bronze behind LAZY BLAZE. With the right early position, he can be around the money once again here.
SELECTIONS: MISTER DECORUM (4), WILLSINTOWN (5), BETTOR WATCH HIM (7), ONYA DOUG (8) SUGGESTED BET: MISTER DECORUM (4) to win
RACE NINE EL SWAVO (6) will strip fitter from his run here last week when resuming from a spell. Starting from the 20m tape over the sprint trip, he was wide the last lap and was strong to the line. Out in trip and moving forward 10mm this time around, he can look to break his Redcliffe maiden in this. ROSEHILL MAGIC (8) couldn’t reel them in last start at Marburg when off the 20m tape and finished beyond mid-field behind LANSBURY. Not suited off 30m over the sprint trip here 2 starts back, she will be better placed here and if limiting the work off the 20m tape, she can throw down a challenge. MYRTLE BEACH (1) broke her maiden status here 3 starts back when finishing best over the 1780m. Not too far away at her next start, she was only a half-head away last time and can go close again. SOH TWISTED (2) has great manners from the tapes and last time out secured the pocket trail from the 10m and chased gamely for 3rd behind LAVROS SEGIL. Off the front she is in the mix.
SELECTIONS: EL SWAVO (6), ROSEHILL MAGIC (8), MYRTLE BEACH (1), SOH TWISTED (2) SUGGESTED BET: EL SWAVO (6) to win
