RACE 1 - 11:33AM HELP A NEIGHBOUR MAIDEN PLATE 1640M

“It’s taken him seven tries to win his race, but he’s been a bit unlucky a few times, but Jake (Bayliss) gave him the perfect trip and he got it done.”

“I think he can get over further but probably doesn’t need to at the moment we’ll just take our time with him.”

“I’m not sure it’ll be a huge day for us we’ve got a few outside chances that I think can run races, but with a lot of short priced favourites it might be tough, Starvirgo in race eight is probably most ready to win.”

RACE 2 - 12:08PM MILLERS SWIM SCHOOL BENCHMARK 90 HANDICAP 2220M

“I probably erred on the wrong side when I started her off this preparation without blinkers and when she gets up to this distance, we can probably take them off.”

“All credit to young Maddy Wishart who rode exactly to instruction, we got an easy lead, but you’ve still got to rate them, and she did that perfectly.”

“Her mother is a really good producer and she’ll probably go to the breeding barn come September, there’s a benchmark 90 in a fortnight here that we’ll come back and have another crack at.”

“She’s a beautiful big bodied mare good girth and a wonderful hind part, wins like today are just a bonus she’s going to be a great brood mare.”

“I wouldn’t say it was a surprise she’s a little filly that’s shown us plenty, her first day out at the races last prep was good and since we’ve taken the blinkers off she’s come around.”

“I did have her in a maiden in Ipswich tomorrow but had the confidence to bring her here today and full credit to the owners for letting me do that.”

“I thought she might have thrown the race away halfway down the straight being a bit wayward, but Baylee (Nothdurft) who knows her well was able to balance her up and drive her out to the line.”

“We’ll keep her going now I think she’s a filly with a fair bit of scope who we’ll try to get up over the mile this preparation.”

“We’ve got a big team and a good hand here today and hopefully Angus The Black can kick us off with the short priced runner in the next."

“So far so good he got into a lovely spot in the run you wanted to be on him a fair way from home, our intentions were to be just off the speed, and we found the right spot and were pretty dominant in the end.”

“I think he’ll run a mile down the track but there’s no rush to get there, he’s a nice improving horse and we’ll take our time with him.”

“He’s very similar to his brother Macewen who’s a very good horse, next up for him we’ll probably try to find him a three-year-old handicap.”

“I’m slightly concerned about this weather rolling in, our horses would rather be on top of the ground I’m just hoping this rain can hold off.”

“He’s a lovely old horse a little bit quirky, we try to mix things up with him at home a little bit of jumping and it was great to get a result today.”

“The jumping and some of the other things we do with him just keeps him interested as an older horse, getting back in the winners circle today will certainly keep his mind on the job as well.

“He really appreciates leading around Doomben, the other day his first go at the mile jumping up from 1200 metres we took the sit, but second up he was well out of the gates and able to push on and lead.”

“Justin (Huxtable) is riding more and more horses for us and he did a great job rating him out in front and getting the head down on the line.”

“It was a pretty awkward draw but she made light work of it, Baylee (Nothdurft) didn’t panic got her across outside the leader, once she got into that position she relaxed beautiful and she’s got such a good action great to see her run good time again today.”

“Garibaldi was really good he’ll go to a 1200 metre race in a fortnight.”

“The way Niedorp is going we might hold off on the 1200 metres and wait a couple of weeks for the Silver Stocking or a black type race like that.”

RACE 7 - 3:12PM ROKU GIN QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD HANDICAP 1110M

“He’s only been lightly raced six starts, we’ve always had a good opinion of him he’s very honest he’s just had a bit of trouble with a knee operation and he stood in the gates at Toowoomba one day, but he seems over that now.”

“We thought it might be a bit beyond him today the class of horses Tony (Gollan) turned out, but Mark (Du Plessis) rides him really well and arrived just in time.”

“My idea was to ride him a little bit closer to the pace but there was plenty of tempo and Mark (Du Plessis) summed it up well nice and patient towards the back.”

“His half brother Bold Endeavour is in the next, I’d love to see him run a race at a price too.”

RACE 8 - 3:52PM XXXX DRY BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP 1200M

“I’ve trained for the connections a long time they gave me my first horse when I moved up here twenty-five years ago.”

“Even though the horse is new to the stable I’ve trained a lot of horses out of the mare, so I was familiar with the bloodlines and how they like to be trained, so it was great to get our first win with him.”

“Plan worked out alright Jimmy was trying to lead and thought the fence was cutting up a bit so he got to the middle of the track and it worked out.”

“He did have to do a bit of work early I think there’s a fair bit of merit in the win, they all had their chance at getting him, but he was very determined to the line.”

“With Justin’s (Huxtable) claim and his pretty reliable gate manners we always wanted to push forward, we weren’t sure if we would lead but we got there pretty easily in the end.”

“I thought his win at the Sunshine Coast last start was huge and you’re slightly worried there’s going to be a letdown, but he looks like he’s getting stronger with each run.”

“Hopefully he can string a few wins together he was very good behind horses like Baby Boomer, Guntantes and even Alligator Blood his first preparation, he didn’t run a bad race and he’s a better horse for it.”
