Rhapsody Rose was fully qualified for the Magic Millions Classic at the Gold Coast last January but her mission was aborted after a cantankerous display before the start of the Golden Pearl Quality at the Gold Coast in January.
The filly reared up in the enclosure dislodging apprentice Justin Huxtable who was kicked by the clerk of the course pony and suffered serious abdominal injuries.
“She was over the top by then but she’s come on well since as a three-year-old,” Munce said.
Munce has been very patient with Rhapsody Rose since the winter and looks to have timed his Magic Millions Guineas run perfectly.
He rated Northern Rivers sprinter Far Too Easy and the Scott Morrisey-trained Jackson On Time as the main threats to Rhapsody Rose.
“Far too Easy has good form and Jackson On Time’s run last start was very good,” Munce said.
The David McColm-trained Far Too Easy won at the Gold Coast last month before producing a big effort to win the Winning Rupert at Doomben on December 4.
Jackson On Time is still a maiden but Munce was impressed with the Sebring gelding’s flashing third to Far Too Easy in the Winning Rupert.
As a jockey, Munce won the two-year-old Magic Millions Classic on three occasions and as a trainer he won the Magic Millions Guineas with Boomsara in 2019.
His Magic Millions Classic winners were Dance Hero (2014), Excellerator (2001) and Sunblazer in 1989.
