RACE TWO Starting from this same gate last time out over this trip, ELLE JAY (1) held them wide early but was unable to finish them off when collared in the closing stages by WHATA OPTIMIST. Fitter for the outing after she was second-up from a spell, she can look to take control to go one better. WHATA OPTIMIST (6) started from the second line last start and was sent to sit parked in the early stages. Doing it the tough way, he was able to worry ELLE JAY out of the prize and claim his first win of the season. Buried in the run here, he will be searching for open road to make a challenge. OUR EDUARDO DENARIO (3) has been runner-up at his past two starts on this track, on both occasions when leading them up but collared in the closing stages. He can feature again. KEAYANG SPONGE BOB (8) eased into the 1x1 trail from outside the front-line last start when holding on for the bronze behind RANCHO MAN. He has podium claims from here.
SELECTIONS: ELLE JAY (1), WHATA OPTIMIST (6), OUR EDUARDO DENARIO (3), KEAYANG SPONGE BOB (8) SUGGESTED BET: ELLE JAY (1) to win
RACE THREE JUST ONE GOOD ONE (4) darted through from the inside alley to lead them up here two starts back but was keen and given the stare down which saw him fade over the closing stages. From inside the second line last start, he found space to work into the clear and sweep home to score and can look for the repeat. WHERES TASCOTT (6) will be requiring some factors in her favour from this alley to work into space at some stage. Eased from gate 5 over the Redcliffe 1780m last start, she was strong to the line wide off the track when just 4m from FEELING THE POWER and just needs track to challenge. LOOKS JUST RIGHT (5) was a Creek winner seven starts back and since that win has placed in five of his six starts. Grinding it out when parked last start and beaten a head, he is right in the fight here. COBBLER LANE (7) has shown steady improvement in three runs back from a spell, the past two on this track from the second line. He has podium claims in his bat raising 100th career start. SELECTIONS: JUST ONE GOOD ONE (4), WHERES TASCOTT (6), LOOKS JUST RIGHT (5), COBBLER LANE (7) SUGGESTED BET: JUST ONE GOOD ONE (4) to win
RACE FOUR A tricky little race is this battle where the early battle for the lamp lighting duties looks willing. Requiring some factors to go his way from this gate, BE MY ROCK (6) just needs some track to play with. Luckless with no position available last start after pressing forward and then forced to retreat, he will be probing for the openings. ELMS CREEK (1) is still a maiden here at Marburg but has hit the board in all four of his attempts. Burrowing through to control the speed from gate 1 at Redcliffe two starts back in holding on for a half-neck victory, he was a month between runs when 8m from ARTHUR LOWE last start. The gate is a big asset. TEARAWAY DIAMOND (2) was locked away from inside the second line here last time out and held on for the bronze behind JUST DESSY. With early hustle, he will fire some bullets out of the machine. KING TRITON (3) takes his first look at this surface and will be looking to slide into the running line. Taking them all the way in a qualifier two starts back, he has podium claims. SELECTIONS: BE MY ROCK (6), ELMS CREEK (1), TEARAWAY DIAMOND (2), KING TRITON (3) SUGGESTED BET: BE MY ROCK (6) / Exotics 1-2-3-6
RACE FIVE In a race where several the combatants have strong records on this track, it could be a Marburg maiden that is best placed to arrive. NEWMERELLA LADYKAY (2) is yet to win on this track but has placed in 9 of her 15 runs here, including placings at each of her past 2. Grabbed in the last stride over the 2200m here two starts back, a return to the 1850m can see her fight them off. SHEREACTS (9) was fired off the arm with the intent to find the front here last week and once taking control was able to lead throughout in claiming a 3m margin at her first Marburg appearance. Forced to do it tough in a mare’s qualifier the start prior, she is given no favours from this alley but can still make a challenge. HIGH ON MONTANA (8) has hit the board in 11 of 13 on this deck, with 6 of those being victories. Eased off the poles from inside the second line last start, he will trying to launch a closing raid. VIEWBYTHEROCK (5) has 2 wins and 2 minors from his 5 visits to this track, the latest outing returning a 3rd after working hard in the run outside the leader SHEREACTS. The gate does him no favours. SELECTIONS: NEWMERELLA LADYKAY (2), SHEREACTS (9), HIGH ON MONTANA (8), VIEWBYTHEROCK (5) SUGGESTED BET: NEWMERELLA LADYKAY (2) to win
RACE SIX Adding a fourth win on this track last start after doing it the tough way, RANCHO MAN (2) looks to have secured the right conditions to look for back-to-back wins for the first time in his career. Pressing forward to sit parked from gate 4 last time and grafting out a determined win, he gets the opportunity to dictate. CHARLEVOIX (8) was pushing in for the hat-trick last start when sent forward from gate 7 over the AP mile but a tough run took a toll as he faded to the rear. Taking them all the way in successive wins prior, he has a tricky gate to negotiate here but just needs the tempo to challenge. SHAKATIE (1) has not really had much go her way at her past three starts, the latest when retreating early from gate 4. With an economical trip from this alley, she can be probing to feature. MOONLIGHT BUTCHER (3) has been kept fresh since his last appearance when sweeping home over the top of them to claim a PB rate in victory. Hitting the line in nice order the start prior, he is in the mix. SELECTIONS: RANCHO MAN (2), CHARLEVOIX (8), SHAKATIE (1), MOONLIGHT BUTCHER (3) SUGGESTED BET: RANCHO MAN (2) to win
RACE SEVEN In a race that looks to generate a genuine tempo off the arm and through the early to middle stages, MONGOLIAN CONQUEROR (7) can look to settle handy enough and then dominate in the closing stages. Powering home to score from this alley last start in claiming a head margin, he can look for the repeat. GLENLEDI COMMANDER (3) was building towards a victory after finishing as the runner-up in three successive starts at The Creek and has franked that assessment by winning his past two starts. Unable to find the front last start, he did it the tough way in grinding out the win and he might just be able to dart in behind the speed to challenge. JAY TEE TYRON (1) was driven hard to hold the front from this gate last start and was eventually crossed before finishing midfield. Firing up off the arm again here, the early burn will be critical to his chances. BEEF CITY BLAZE (6) was runner-up here last start when chasing home wider off the track behind LORIMER LADY. The run to the first turn will be eager and if he can hold position, he will be searching for open road. SELECTIONS: MONGOLIAN CONQUEROR (7), GLENLEDI COMMANDER (3), JAY TEE TYRON (1), BEEF CITY BLAZE (6) SUGGESTED BET: MONGOLIAN CONQUEROR (7) to win
