The Queensland Oaks picture will become a litter clearer for talented stable mates Teranga and Canadian Dancer after the pair clash in the Listed Princess Stakes at Doomben on Saturday.
Both fillies are prepared by Brisbane’s in-form training partnership of Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted.
Hoysted has given punters a lead with a slight preference for Canadian Dancer, who has won two of her three starts this campaign including a last start victory over 1350 metres at Ipswich on April 6.
Teranga has only started three times in her young career, for two wins, and was most impressive storming home to score over 1615 metres at Doomben on April 9.
Her only defeat came at her second appearance, when she finished fifth in a restricted race at Eagle Farm on March 23.
“The Queensland Oaks is still a fair way off yet and both fillies have been up a while,” Hoysted said.
“They’re both very nice staying fillies but Canadian Dancer is probably sharper and better suited over the mile than Teranga.
“This has been the target race for both fillies as it only gets harder from here on in with all the southern horses coming up for the winter carnival.
“It’s fair to say both are on trial for the Oaks but we’ll see how they go on Saturday before deciding if they go down the Oaks path.”
