The annual Ilfracombe PRC Willowie Cup non-Tab race meeting on Saturday July 9, has been abandoned due to the state of the track.
Following recent rainfall and track repairs, QRIC Stewards again inspected the Ilfracombe racetrack at lunchtime today (together with a number of jockeys), declaring the track unsuitable for racing due to sections of the track that are still wet underneath and unlikely to recover.
There was no opportunity to reschedule this meeting to a neighboring race club, as none were available due to recent rainfall in the area.
The Ilfracombe PRC will however conduct a phantom “betting” meeting at the racecourse with full facilities available.
Due to the abandonment, additional races have been added to upcoming race meetings in the Central West region. They are:
BARCOO ARC (at Blackall) – Saturday July 16
Open Hcp 1400m $8,500
Class 6 Plate (sw) 1050m $8,500
LONGREACH JC – Saturday July 23

Benchmark 55 Hcp 1400m $8,500
