Racing Queensland can confirm following a track inspection the Warwick Turf Club race meeting programmed for Thursday, July 7, has been abandoned.
The track was inspected on Monday and due to the prevalence of surface water was considered unsafe for racing on at that time, however the decision to abandon the meeting was delayed in the hope that an improvement in the weather might potentially provide the opportunity for it to dry out sufficiently.
Further rainfall has however negated that possibility hence there is now no likelihood that the track could recover in time for Thursday’s meeting to proceed.
As a consequence of the abandonment, RQ will give careful consideration to the potential for the programming of alternative racing opportunities within the region during the next fortnight.
