Chinny Boom turning heads in Central Queensland

Queensland may have a new budding superstar in the shape of Rockhampton filly Chinny Boom.

Chinny Boom was simply brilliant at Callaghan Park on Tuesday, scoring by more than eight lengths, in a track record time of 58.59 seconds, shattering the previous mark of 59.37 seconds over the 1050 metres, set by Say I Won’t in November 2014.

After her demolition of the four horses contesting the $38,000 QTIS 3YO Handicap, winning jockey Ashley Butler revealed she had another gear left to offer.

Following the stunning win, Chinchilla owner Mark Pascoe confirmed he has no intention of selling the sensational filly, despite receiving a number of astronomical offers.

“The biggest cash money I have been offered was $400,000. However, I have also taken calls from bloodstock agents to buy her while not stipulating a price,” he said.

 However, Pascoe also the breeder of the horse, said he had turned down all the offers.

“I want to keep her and race her myself,” he confirmed.

The news that Chinny Boom is not for sale was joy to the ears for premier trainer Clinton Taylor.

“I just don’t know how good this filly is. I have nothing that will go with her on the training tracks,” he said.

“She is by far the best horse I have trained. She will go to Brisbane next start now but they are always hard to win there.

“She will have to probably step up to a 1200 metre race.”

While Chinny Boom has won under her own steam using her natural brilliant cruising speed by leading, Taylor believes the best of her will be seen when she can be positioned just in behind the lead.

That could well come about on Saturday, October 22 at Doomben when Chinny Boon may make her city debut in a $127,500 QTIS 3YO Fillies Handicap over 1200 metres.
