RACE ONE
He may be unplaced in four previous attempts here at The Creek, but BONDI LOCKDOWN (5) might just be ready to put the W next to his name. He made some nice metres first up behind BIG WHEELS over the 2680 and last start broke 55 wide off the tack the last 800. This looks well within reach. GOVERNOR JUJON (1) was asked to roll the sleeves and do it the tough way last start when sitting parked at the mile after moving through from the second line. Finishing midfield, he was chasing the standing start season in previous runs and with his best gate for some time, can land a snipers shot. MAJESTIC CRUISER (11) earned a pass mark sectionally last week when first up in Qld behind BLACKSADANCE. Of concern that he has not hit the board since last year’s Inter Dom Rd 1 heat, he can certainly be sharper here. NORTHVIEW HUSTLER (2) settled in the running line here last week and was not too far from the winner PETES SAID SO. If able to find the markers, he can give some cheek. SELECTIONS: BONDI LOCKDOWN (5), GOVERNOR JUJON (1), MAJESTIC CRUISER (11), NORTHVIEW HUSTLER (2) SUGGESTED BET: BONDI LOCKDOWN (5) to win
RACE TWO Completely luckless in the Redcliffe Oaks from the second line where she was in gridlock, NO DRAMAS (10) could have been much closer with more on her side. That followed a similar trip in a strong mile at her first Qld appearance. There should be plenty of tempo here for her to charge home. JEWEL MELODY (4) was huge in defeat in the Redcliffe Oaks after rolling forward from outside the front line to sit parked. With the temerity to hit the front, it was only the swooping CHEER LEADER that was able to grab her late. Sectionally super the start prior, she will throw it down again. PEACEFUL (1) led up in the Redcliffe Oaks but could not finish them off, fading to midfield as the red figure fav. First up from a spell on that occasion, she will strip fitter and might just be looking for cover this time. WINDY HILL TARA (9) will likely start inside the second line and from there maps for the soft trip which should be ideal as she tackles this first up from a spell. Tucked away she will be probing. SELECTIONS: NO DRAMAS (10), JEWEL MELODY (4), PEACEFUL (1), WINDY HILL TARA (9) SUGGESTED BET: NO DRAMAS (10) each-way
RACE THREE The US bound NATURALLY GIFTED (2) is a talented gelding that has just failed to land a big win to date in his career. Still able to place in races like the Bathurst Gold Crown and Chalice, NSW Derby and Redcliffe Derby, he finds conditions here for a feature breakthrough. He can find the poles to take this. ON DEADLINE (1) arrives in Qld for Nathan Turnbull off the back of a hat-trick of NSW victories, the latest at Menangle where he defeated DON HUGO and ROCKOKOKO. With the map to stalk the speed, he can be tucked away ready to land the snipers shot in the stretch. AARDIES FLASH (9) nearly pinched the Redcliffe Derby last start after he was sent around to take control. Only collared in the last stride, it followed a slick win on this deck, and he is right in the fight. DOUGS PLATTER (10) showed a blistering turn of hoof here last week at his first Qld appearance to snare a smart victory with a slick close out. He can angle wider and be rattling home again. SELECTIONS: NATURALLY GIFTED (2), ON DEADLINE (1), AARDIES FLASH (9), DOUGS PLATTER (10) SUGGESTED BET: NATURALLY GIFTED (2) to win
RACE FOUR
A wide open DJA Final, evidenced by the opening market that showed $6 the field. GLOBAL FLIGHT (2) will be chasing successive titles in this race and was much better last start after a pair of runs where he has struck trouble. Holding 3rd int eh second round heats, at the big price he is worth a throw at the stumps. HAMMERS LAW (9) has been runner-up in all three Qld appearances, the latest when making good metres wide off the track to be 4m from ZEALOUS SPUR. Sent forward early in the Rd 1 heats to take control before being sniped by ALDEBARN MISTY, he is safe off the tapes, but the distance is a query. CALL ME TROUBLE (15) was the most impressive winner of the four heats when he raced clear over this trip in the first round to post a 27m margin. His second round was full of merit and if he trots, he will be right in the fight. SIR FAHRENHEIT (13) made one last lunge last week after being sent forward to sit parked over the 2138, finishing a wart short of the prize. He has the manners to be right in it, while ALDEBARAN MISTY (3) will be looking to sweep the series in a race with plenty of chances. SELECTIONS: GLOBAL FLIGHT (2), HAMMERS LAW (9), CALL ME TROUBLE (15), SIR FAHRENHEIT (13) SUGGESTED BET: GLOBAL FLIGHT (2) each-way
RACE FIVE The fastest mare to ever pace the 1660 here at The Creek is UPTOWN BEACHGIRL (2) and her efforts have been strong in recent starts. After tackling the ‘boys’ where she was midfield to BLACKSADANCE and LEAP TO FAME, he past two in mare’s company have been full of merit off the second line. This looks her chance to capitalise. CALA JANE (1) was tucked away in the trail in the Redcliffe Princess of the Bay and when the gap arrived, she darted through to grab the prize and break the mare’s track record. She again maps for the trip where she excels, chasing speed and saved for the closing shot. BRAEVIEW KELLY (11) will need to be at her best if she is able to overcome the second line in what looks set to be a slick mile. Placed in both runs since returning from a spell after her 5th in the Miracle Mile, she will be in for the fight. DELIGHTFUL ANGEL (9) broke the 1.50 barrier three starts back when charging over the top to deny BRAEVIEW KELLY. Placed in both runs since, she can trail through early to chime in. SELECTIONS: UPTOWN BEACHGIRL (2), CALA JANE (1), BRAEVIEW KELLY (11), DELIGHTFUL ANGEL (9) SUGGESTED BET: UPTOWN BEACHGIRL (2) to win
RACE SIX Starting from a 20m handicap last start from the tapes, EXPENSIVE EGO (5) started fav and was strong to the line when 3m from TIMS A TROOPER. A first up winner when resuming from a spell following a midfield finish in the Miracle Mile, his record here is super, and he can add another to the tally. BIG WHEELS (1) has been super since returning from a spell with two wins in four starts and sectionally brilliant in the other two. Charging home from the outside second line behind his big bro BLACKSADANCE last week, with his best gate in some time and options at hand, he can challenge. MAGNIFICENT STORM (8) arrives on the East Coast after dominating the Open Class ranks in Perth in recent months. He will be tucked away here, but if the gap arrives in time, he will be right in the mix. SWAYZEE (9) remains undefeated for the Grimson stable, claiming 4 from 4 and all on different decks. Brutalising his opposition last start to break the 2138 track record, he faces the second line here but can still feature. SELECTIONS: EXPENSIVE EGO (5), BIG WHEELS (1), MAGNIFICENT STORM (8), SWAYZEE (9) SUGGESTED BET: EXPENSIVE EGO (5) to win
The inaugural running of The Great Square where the visitors look to have a strong hold on the contest. COURAGE STRIDE (11) has the tough gate but is working towards a peak after three runs back from a spell. Placed behind QUEEN ELIDA and LETTUCE TROT, he then had the closing speed last start to arrive at Melton. Tempo should be strong, and he can descend. ROCKINWITHATTITUDE (2) will be chasing down the 3YO bonus on offer if the winner is of that age and she comes into the battle with victories at her past five in succession, two of those since resuming this season. Annexing the NSW Oaks and Derby in successive outings when leading throughout, she can get forward and look to take her shot. ARCEE PHOENIX (6) is undefeated this season with Kilmore and Bendigo wins followed by successive Melton victories. Grinding it out from gate 7 last start, he will be getting forward to stake his claim. HOT TO TROT (5) was an easy winner at his first look at this track last week, claiming the win with plenty ion reserve after a closing 57.5 half. He can get forward and will put the heat into this. SELECTIONS: COURAGE STRIDE (11), ROCKINWITHATTITUDE (2), ARCEE PHOENIX (6), HOT TO TROT (5) SUGGESTED BET: COURAGE STRIDE (11) to win
RACE EIGHT Not even the outside gate will stop LEAP TO FAME (7) going 4 from 4 as a 4YO, with Larry returning in super form this season. Breaking the 2138m 4YO class record with a front-end domination two starts back, there are plenty of seasoned harness folk still in awe of what he produced in the Patrons Purse at Redcliffe. The most incandescent star of The Constellations Carnival will shine bright again. MY ULTIMATE RONNIE (3) will strip fitter following his return last week at Menangle where he was set alight early from gate 8 to find the front over the 2300 at Menangle. Holding on for the bronze when 5m from SPIRIT OF ST LOUIS, he can look for the poles early and has all the options thereafter to issue some form of challenge. CANTFINDABETTORMAN (5) was huge here last week when wide off the track and closing out his last 800 in sub-54. That made it two on the bounce after a sharp win from gate 10. Choosing gate 5 might be a little head scratching off the strength of his past two finishes, but he is a classy beast. SPEAK THE TRUTH (6) did not let LEAP TO FAME own the 4YO 2138 class record for long, taking the title here last week with a huge victory in the Queensland Sun. Mapping looks awkward from 6, but he has been super this campaign and will be right in the fight. SELECTIONS: LEAP TO FAME (7), MY ULTIMATE RONNIE (3), CANTFINDABETTORMAN (5), SPEAK THE TRUTH (6) SUGGESTED BET: F4 Jackpot Race 7 / 3-5-6 / 3-4-5-6 / 2-3-4-5-6
RACE NINE With 5 wins in his 7 appearances here at The Creek, BOLD MEDLEY JUJON (1) has been in front at the bell in all those victories. Taken back lasty week as the field settled in single file, he just looks a much sharper conveyance on the engine, and this looks to be right in the wheelhouse. AWAYWEGO (13) has faced tough gates all campaign and comes up with another stinker here. The only handy marble in recent starts was here two runs back when taking them all the way from gate 4 with a 54.3 last half. He will need some factors in his favour, but he cannot be ignored. ARODA (8) pressed to the front in the Queensland Sun last start and set an electric tempo from the front. Out of bullets a long way from home, he can get a stalking trip here and look to chime in. SOHO RHAPSODY (9) was hemmed away on the poles last week and when breaking free, was strong to the line for 3rd behind SEND IT. A similar trip here can see her making a closing raid. SELECTIONS: BOLD MEDLEY JUJON (1), AWAYWEGO (13), ARODA (8), SOHO RHAPSODY (9) SUGGESTED BET: BOLD MEDLEY JUJON (1) to win
RACE TEN
With next week’s Hayden in the crosshairs, CAPTAIN SHUFFLES (7) will look to go into that battle off the back of three successive victories. A sharp Redcliffe winner two back, he franked the strength of that when overcoming the wide gate here last week to take them all the way. The threepeat is on. ROCKS OR DIAMONDS (1) loves the tag and release and lands the ideal alley to let the right runner go and be ready for the closing shot. Just out of the money last start behind LEAP TO FAME, he was runner-up in both prior starts after releasing. He will be coiled like a cobra, ready to strike. TITIAN RAIDER (8) will be tucked away in behind the action and hoping a gap arrives in time to make a play. Too slick despite the 7 gate here last start, he will be probing. LETS GET ROCKIN (2) has had three runs back from a spell, the latest where he was deep field and never in the mix behind CASH N FLOW. Settling handy can see him chase some minor money here. SELECTIONS: CAPTAIN SHUFFLES (7), ROCKS OR DIAMONDS (1), TITIAN RAIDER (8), TERRYRAMA (5) SUGGESTED BET: CAPTAIN SHUFFLES (7) to win
