RACE ONE
A tough 30-40 to open the day with a field searching for form, with MAN OF ACTION (8) the only runner to have scored a win this season. Making some late ground last start at Redcliffe when 3rd behind GHOST TRAIN, he can get the right trip to add another to his 2023 numbers. MELTON MAX GENTLE (9) has been hit and miss since changing stables, his latest effort from gate 1 where he made the early error that sees him on the ODM embargo. Closing out for the bronze two starts back, he can look for the cart home to make a late challenge. WRITEABOUTCHELSEA (2) has some less than inspiring numbers next to her name but finds conditions here where she can look to get to the pegs which would boost her chances. DALLAS COWGIRL (7) resumes from a spell and although winless this season, does have some handy numbers on this deck. Following through early can see her grab some minor money. SELECTIONS: MAN OF ACTION (8), MELTON MAX GENTLE (9), WRITEABOUTCHELSEA (2), DALLAS COWGIRL (7) SUGGESTED BET: MAN OF ACTION (8) to win
RACE TWO ALWAYS AT NIGHT (4) is a three-time winner here at the Little M, his last appearance here returning the W when darting through an inside gap to claim the prize. Down the line in four runs at Redcliffe from tricky gates since, he finds conditions here to bounce back. MISS PAU (6) eased from a wide gate last start at Redcliffe and was trying to make a sustained run wide off the track but could not eat into the margin. A tidy winner five runs back on The Triangle, she has been unable to hit the board in four attempts here but if a gap opens, she can challenge. WHATA CHALLENGE (7) eased from gate 5 last start and copped a check in the run but was still able to grab the bronze. With the right trip he can be chiming in here. TAKIDAH (1) has faced the starter twice since arriving in Qld and trailed the field home on both occasions. With the benefit of the ace, she can hold on for a minor. SELECTIONS: ALWAYS AT NIGHT (4), MISS PAU (6), WHATA CHALLENGE (7), TAKIDAH (1) SUGGESTED BET: ALWAYS AT NIGHT (4) to win
RACE THREE With hustle off the arm that can put him in the premier position soon after the start, MUSTANG DUDE (1) can look to maintain that spot and take them all the way. Fading last start at Redcliffe after working to get across, he can burrow though. JANG PEL (6) held the 1x1 trail at Redcliffe last time out to grab 3rd when on the three day back up from the Gatton Show. Mapping for an economical trip against the markers, he will be probing for the openings to issue the challenge. HOLLYWOOD ROOKI (9) last tasted victory back in May when closing out hard from three back the poles in the run to arrive right on the wire. This is not out of reach. DOOLITTLE DANDY (3) has had four runs back from a spell, the latest when faced with the inside second line gate and being buried in the run. Finding running line cover here can see him in the mix. SELECTIONS: MUSTANG DUDE (1), JANG PEL (6), HOLLYWOOD ROOKI (9), DOOLITTLE DANDY (3) SUGGESTED BET: MUSTANG DUDE (1) to win
RACE FOUR
The early mapping will likely go a long way to deciding this contest. CHRONICLES (2) was runner-up last start from the pocket trail after being crossed and finishing 6m from KALYPSO SAM. Facing a second line gate two starts back, can he cross- perhaps, can he win- yes. FUNNILY ENOUGH (1) will be burrowing through trying to protect the inside and look to capitalise on the ace. Making his first Qld appearance for David Rodger, he arrives with a last start 2nd when 3m from the winner at Tamworth. He has the gate to throw it down first up. CIRCLE LINE (9) was left out on a limb on Wednesday night when repelled for the chair and forced to retreat to the tail. With a smart record on this deck, he can be joining in. UNDERTHEKILT (7) was locked away three back on the inside over the AP mile last time out and made some nice metres in the closing stages to be 3m astern of the winner. He can feature here. SELECTIONS: CHRONICLES (2), FUNNILY ENOUGH (2), CIRCLE LINE (9), UNDERTHEKILT (7) SUGGESTED BET: CHRONICLES (2) to win
RACE FIVE THE GROGMOTHER (2) makes her first trip west to the Little M and has the arm speed to look for the lamp lighting duties. Forced to retreat from gate 5 last start over the AP mile, she was midfield after fading late two back at Redcliffe. Around the tight track, she can fight them off. MAFFIOSO GIRL (9) has super figures here at Marburg with a 50% winning strike rate from her 14 appearances complemented by three minors. Buried in the run last start at Redcliffe when fresh up, she can get the right run to issue the challenge. MY SECRET BEACH (8) has not had much go his way with the barriers in recent starts and brings a last start 4th from gate 5 at Redcliffe where he found the line strongly. He can be chiming in here. DUKE (1) looks set for the soft trip in behind the speed and will be searching for the gaps late. A Redcliffe winner from the second line two starts back, he is in the fight. SELECTIONS: THE GROGMOTHER (2), MAFFIOSO GIRL (9), MY SECRET BEACH (8), DUKE (1) SUGGESTED BET: THE GROGMOTHER (2) to win
RACE SIX CAMROLLER (1) has yet to find his best this preparation but finds the race to get back some winning form. Eased from gate 3 last start to settle deep field and unable to get warm against the tempo, he secures the gate to look to protect the poles and in front can turn his fortunes. TOMMY BLIGH (8) faced gate 6 over the AP mile last time out and slid forward to secure the 1x1 trail. Fighting on to hold the bronze, it followed a smart Redcliffe victory and with a top-three at his past seven in succession, can be up to adding another here. FEELIN FLIRTY (3) has some slippery moves when the arms fold back and will be taking a good shot for the front. Fading last start after sitting parked, the outside second line dented his hopes here two back. ARTISTIC SAINT (4) does not have the greatest figures here at Marburg but can boast a smart win at Redcliffe on Wednesday night. Fired out to take control and see it out, he will be in the fight again. SELECTIONS: CAMROLLER (1), TOMMY BLIGH (8), FEELIN FLIRTY (3), ARTISTIC SAINT (4) SUGGESTED BET: CAMROLLER (1) to win
RACE SEVEN With an excellent record on this track assisted by her arm hustle to get forward from the start, BAILEYS WITH LEGS (3) can look to dart across and take control. Second line gates have put it out of reach at her past two, but fitter from one back from a freshen, this looks right in the slot. FAVREAU (4) eased to the inside from a second line gate last start and was searching for some luck when finishing out of the money behind GOLDIES A DELIGHT. Gate 6 was his undoing two runs back and despite a wider gate again here, should appreciate this opposition to stake his claim. MAJOR SLIP UP (9) resumes from a spell and will be chasing a hat-trick of victories after wins here and then at Redcliffe back in January. The gate does him no favours in the search for the threepeat. OCEAN LANE (1) returns from almost 12 months off the scene to a track where she has been unable to hit the board in four outings. With the benefit of the gate, an economical trip will help first up. SELECTIONS: BAILEYS WITH LEGS (3), FAVREAU (4), MAJOR SLIP UP (9), OCEAN LANE (1) SUGGESTED BET: BAILEYS WITH LEGS (3) to win
RACE EIGHT
HES SWEET (1) will need to be burrowing through to protect the inside running, but with the inside advantage, once in front he can look to dictate. Still chasing his first win of the season, he did not have the smoothest passage two back behind AMAMI. This looks his chance to cash in. IDEAL TIGER (2) has good figures around the tight track here where he has hit the board in 13 of his 17 appearances. Closing out in nice style last time out at Redcliffe when beaten a head behind subsequent winner SHEZ NOTORIOUS, he can be close enough to issue the challenge. TE QUIRO (7) held the pocket trail at Redcliffe last start and ran the winner THERESACHANCE to a neck margin. Unplaced in her two outings on this deck, she can be making a closing raid. STUDLEIGH MARK (6) will be tucked away and searching for openings from this gate but with no passing lane, might not get his chance to offer. A four-time winner here, he will be probing. SELECTIONS: HES SWEET (1), IDEAL TIGER (2), TE QUIRO (7), STUDLEIGH MARK (6) SUGGESTED BET: HES SWEET (1) to win
