RACE ONE
With just a small field for this 70heat, LEITHEN BURN (1) should benefit from his first up run where he made his first appearance of the season. Making nice ground wide out to be just 3m from the winner CATSEYE BEACH, he can burrow through from this gate to dictate. SO SIRIUS (4) started inside the second line last time out over the Redcliffe sprint trip and was soon shuffled back in the run. Making a closing raid to be 3m from the winner LOUS DREAM, it followed a 6m margin behind WHATA ROLLER. With the right trip he can look to make a challenge. GOTTA GO MILKING (5) was faced with a wide gate last start and after showing early hustle found the 1x1 trail before finishing strongly in the closing stages to be 3m away. RACE TWO Faced with a wide second line gate last start over the 2138 owing to being on the ODM list, MAJOR ICON (3) was trying to make a late raid here last week when midfield behind SPORTING RAGE. Pressing on with it from gate 7 two starts back to lead, he was collared in the closing strides. Now back in the main draw is a big asset. GELDOF (8) had been building towards a win after finishing runner-up in three of his previous four starts. Stamped urgent off the gate last start, he forced his way to the front with a sub 27 opening panel illuminating the board. Despite the slick tempo, he was able to see it out, clinging on for a narrow victory. With second line options he can challenge. ROLL WITH SAM (5) showed some early hustle before easing into a position last start when finishing midfield to SHES FULLOFSPIRIT. Facing wide gates owing to the ODM embargo in prior starts, he has podium claims here. ARTS PEREGRINE (4) was luckless last start when searching for gaps that did not open as SPORTING RAGE took the prize. Fading here two starts back, positioning cheaply will be key to his chances. RACE THREE Descending on them from back in the pack here four runs back, KHULAN KID (7) scored a smart victory to pull clear to a 5m margin. Never in the call at his next start, he has placed at his past two, chasing home behind the airborne IM BOO in both outings. He can defy the outside gate. ODINS BLACK CROWS (5) has been freshened since his last appearance when making a closing raid up the passing lane to be just a half-head from the winner SO AM I. Sent around them from the second line to take control and pull away to a big 11m victory two starts back, he can throw it down. FORGIVE ME (4) has placed at her past three in succession, the latest from outside the second line at Redcliffe when trying to make a closing raid. Settling handy will aid her podium hopes in this. ARNOLD STREET (1) found the front early before releasing and then shuffled back last start when midfield behind IM BOO. With the options from this gate, an inside trip will suit. RACE FOUR
Just a 2YO tackling some experienced campaigners, ROCKON ROCKY (10) will be fresh from a let up. Sent around them to sit parked last start and fighting hard to go under by a head, it followed a midfield finish in the QBRED Final behind QUIK CHANGE. Despite the gate, he can descend on them. ROCKNROLL DA GAMA (8) started from the second line last time out at Redcliffe and was trying to make a closing raid when 2m astern of the winner CHIEF JUJON. Making a slow start from behind the tapes two runs back, he can secure the soft trip and be probing for openings to challenge. IT AINT ROYAL (5) has won two of his past three starts and if able to gain a cheap lead here will be hard to stop. Pressing on to find the front and see it out last start, he will be looking for the front. BEACH ON FIRE (1) has struggled to recapture his best form since resuming from a spell, but his past two have shown some improvement. Midfield at Redcliffe last start, he has the gate to turn things around. RACE FIVE After a starting no closed than gate 5 in five runs since resuming from a spell, PERFECT FEELING (2) finally snares the marble and finds the right opposition to chase victory. Buried away last start from inside the second line at Redcliffe, he has the arm hustle to press the button and look to dictate. BUKTHSYSTEM (1) pressed on from gate 4 here four runs back, took control and was able to see it out from the front. Not much has gone his way in the three runs since and with the improved gate, lands all the options to throw it down. FUNNILY ENOUGH (7) has been hitting consistent areas in recent outings, placing in four of her past five starts. Strong to the line from a second line gate last start, another tough gate hampers her hopes. CHASIN DREAMZ (4) worked forward from gate 4 last start at Redcliffe and taking control was unable to finish them off, holding on for the silver. She can be handy enough to feature again. SELECTIONS: PERFECT FEELING (2), BUKTHSYSTEM (1), FUNNILY ENOUGH (7), CHASIN DREAMZ (4) SUGGESTED BET: PERFECT FEELING (2) to win
RACE SIX Afforded no favours from the outside second line, AURORA JOY (10) will be reliant on some tempo which does look on paper should be generated. Strong to the line from deep field last start over the 2138 when 5m from SPORTING RAGE which followed a victory, she can be descending on them to claim the prize. BROOKIFIELDS BEAUTY (7) has the ODM embargo and was snagged back in the early stages from this gate last start. Looking to make a late raid, she held 3rd, albeit some 19m from the winner. Big in defeat after an error two starts back, she can be issuing a closing challenge. WATERLINE (6) was looking to go back-to-back on Monday at Redcliffe when sent to the post a drifting fav. Never in the call after retreating, she grabbed the bronze and can bounce back here. HESLUVABLE (1) found a suitable race at Redcliffe last start and was duly sent out fav despite a second line gate. Too strong for his rivals, he snares all the options from this gate to feature. RACE SEVEN Staring down a hat-trick of victories after carving out successive victories at this trip, IM BOO (2) lands the ideal alley. Sent hard off the arm in a 26.2 opener two starts back, he kept the power on for a big win and then last start eased from inside the second, looped the field and took control. He can scare them out of it again here. CAPTAIN OF SPEED (8) tackled a mare’s qualifier last start where she was able to dart off the arm, take control and grip on for a narrow victory. Claiming a PB victory three runs back when leading throughout, a pole trip here will be the place to race, and she can look to make a closing challenge. OOGA CHAKA (10) was content to sit parked last start from gate 2 in a second division qualifier and despite a tough trip was able to pull clear to score. The second line makes it a tough ask. BACK TO BETOOTA (6) faces a tough gate in a race where being closer to the fence will be far more beneficial. Runner-up in at his past two when chasing home in each, he can chime in late. RACE EIGHT A tricky race to close the card with the middle trip also bringing in some additional factors. NAKULA (2) is winless in seven attempts beyond the sprint but might just have found the set up to adjust that anomaly. Hanging tough when parked from gate 6 over the 2040 at Redcliffe two starts back and beaten a neck, the improved gate is a huge boost. MISTER FONZI (11) was tucked away behind the speed from gate 1 here two starts back and when the passing lane presented, darted through to score an effortless 5m victory. Chasing hard after retreating from gate 7 and running IM BOO to 4m in a last start 3rd, he can be closing out here. MORESCO (3) is some ways holds the keys to this contest, with her position in the run a big factor. Taking them all the way over this trip three runs back, if she can lead cheaply, she is a huge threat. NEVADA YANKEE (12) eased from gate 7 to find the fence last start at the mile and was attacking the line strongly in the closing stages when 3m from GELDOF.
