RACE ONE
Taking some benefit from his return from a spell at Marburg, KING OF THE NORTH (4) was faced with a big 50m handicap and struck trouble in the run. With over 10 months between race appearances, he looks well graded in this contest and has a tidy mobile record. DARCYS FIREBALL (8) was looking to remain undefeated in Qld last time out when faced with the 30m handicap and made tougher when making an error in the run. It was a top effort to be just behind the placings and with options as the lone second line runner can throw it down. KING CITY (2) makes his first race appearance after joining the Shawn Grimsey stable off the back of a last start stand down at Menangle. With two handy trials, he can be thereabouts first up. HATEITWHENYOURRITE (6) was returning from a let up last start when taking on open company from the tapes. With some added fitness, back to this grade can see him in the mix. SELECTIONS: KING OF THE NORTH (4), DARCYS FIREBALL (8), KING CITY (2), HATEITWHENYOURRITE (6) SUGGESTED BET: KING OF THE NORTH (4) to win
RACE TWO
Making his first appearance in Qld for the Turpin stable, AARDIES MIRACLE (1) arrives from the North Island of NZ after finishing down the line in his only two race starts. With a steady performance at the trials where he was not asked for much, he finds a winnable maiden first up. FEISTYNFEARLESS (9) finished at the tail of the field on debut at Redcliffe but returned a much sharper performance second up when coming her to the big deck. Leading them up, he was only grabbed in the last strides to be a half-head short of victory. He can issue a challenge. HAY BALE HUSTLER (5) will take plenty of experience from her race debut when tackling a 2YO maiden. Shuffled back form gate 1 before grabbing 3rd to CYCLONE TONY, she can chime in here. MY ULTIMATE RYANO (8) was making nice metres in the closing stages two starts back behind MULLUM ROXY and then last start was only 2m away. He will be probing for gaps here. SELECTIONS: AARDIES MIRACLE (1), FEISTYNFEARLESS (9), HAY BALE HUSTLER (5), MY ULTIMATE RYANO (8) SUGGESTED BET: AARDIES MIRACLE (1) to win
RACE THREE
CRIME TIME (9) was faced with the outside second line over the middle trip last start when easing for cheap runs and chasing short cuts. Faced with a wide front line gate the start prior, he has been midfield in each of his past two behind MAJOR MONDO. This looks a mores suitable set up. WILLIEWA LIGHTNING (8) will be sweating on the 1 looking for an all the way victory and with that scenario likely to play out, will be awaiting the gaps to take his shot. Runner-up last start when chasing home behind MAJOR MONDO, wide gates were his undoing in previous outings. SHEZ ALL STYLE (1) has been besieged by wide gates in recent outings and should appreciate the improved alley for this assignment. Trying to make ground last start, she has enough early hustle. HESLUVABLE (10) was working home wide on the track last time out from this same gate when under 2m from the winner WHATA JOURNEY. Runner-up two back, he can be joining in here. SELECTIONS: CRIME TIME (9), WILLIEWA LIGHTNING (8), SHEZ ALL STYLE (1), HESLUVABLE (10) SUGGESTED BET: CRIME TIME (9) to win
RACE FOUR
Tackling open company last start when eased from gate 6 to find position, BETTERTHANAROCKET (2) was facing an ask as TURN IT UP finished them off in 27.3 from the front. Finishing best to score here three runs back, he has the early speed to find his position and with a solid tempo can capitalise. DELIGHTFUL MAJOR (5) was resuming from two years off the scene at Redcliffe three runs back when putting up a strong effort from outside the front line to be under 3m from the winner. Third up here last start, he took control and dominated on the front end for a big win at the 2138 and added fitness is a big boost. KASH US BACK (1) was best of the chasing pack lasty start behind DELIGHTFUL MAJOR in a strongly run 2138 trip. With the chance to avoid any early work, he can be making a closing raid here. BIG SKEWY (8) eased from gate 6 last time out and from deep field never got into the contest with the tempo strong in the last 600m. With the second line options, he has podium claims. SELECTIONS: BETTERTHANAROCKET (2), DELIGHTFUL MAJOR (5), BIG SKEWY (8), KASH US BACK (1) SUGGESTED BET: BETTERTHANAROCKET (2) to win
RACE FIVE
Faced with second line barriers at his past two outings, STARS OF AMERICA (2) is well placed back to the tight alley here. Wide off the track at Marburg last time to issue the closing challenge, he held on for the bronze here two starts back from the pocket trail behind BETTING BARON. WHATA JOURNEY (10) overcame a second line gate here last week when charging home in the latter stages to arrive for a narrow victory. Holding on for the bronze in a mare’s qualifier the start prior, look for her issuing a closing challenge. JAKKI MUN (5) caught the eye from a long way back last start behind THE IRISHMAN after ducking and weaving to find space. Strong to the line two back at Redcliffe, positioning cheaply will be key. IT AINT ROYAL (3) settled in the running line here last start at the middle trip and was making some late metres to grab 3rd behind THE IRISHMAN. Settling handy, he has podium claims again. SELECTIONS: STARS OF AMERICA (2), WHATA JOURNEY (10), JAKKI MUN (5), IT AINT ROYAL (3) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE SIX
Finding the ideal conditions last week from this same gate over this same trip, THE IRISHMAN (1) kept them wide early and then was able to control the tempo to claim a 4m victory. That followed a passing lane victory also over this trip and with all the options, the threepeat is on. KERBANG (5) was first up back in Qld last start when facing the outside second line over this trip. Making a three-wide move from the 600, he was strong to the line wide off the track to grab the silver behind THE IRISHMAN. Giving away gate advantage, he will try to reverse the result. DELIGHTFUL RAINBOW (8) eased to the poles last start from gate 4 and with the soft trip was making good metres in the closing stages to be under 4m from the winner. She will be probing. MAJOR ICON (9) was sent to the front last start over the mile and after a steady time of it, was collared up the passing lane by GWYNETH P. He can find running line cover to chime in here. SELECTIONS: THE IRISHMAN (1), KERBANG (5), DELIGHTFUL RAINBOW (8), MAJOR ICON (9) SUGGESTED BET: THE IRISHMAN (1) to win
RACE SEVEN
Producing a flashing light run in successive starts when attacking the line strongly on each occasion, PUSHINIT UPHILL (4) franked the assessment last start. With the perfect trip behind the speed, he was angled clear at the right time and got out to claim victory. With plenty of tempo, he can repeat. KALYPSO SAM (1) will take some benefit form his last start where he was returning from a freshen and asked to work hard in the run when parked. Scoring a gritty victory from outside the second line two starts back, he has good speed off the arm and will be challenging from this alley. SPORTING RAGE (5) has won two of his past four and overcome the outside front-line gate on both occasions. Doing it tough two starts back in a gritty win, he was fired up and beat himself last start. GWYNETH P (8) had been sectionally strong for an extended period without converting it into top-three finishes. Tucked away and darting through on the passing lane last start to score, she can chase a repeat effort. SELECTIONS: PUSHINIT UPHILL (4), KALYPSO SAM (1), SPORTING RAGE (5), GWYNETH P (8) SUGGESTED BET: PUSHINIT UPHILL (4) to win
RACE EIGHT
With three runs back from a long spell, LEITHEN BURN (3) looks to have found his chance to open his 2023 account. Strong to the line when resuming, he set the tempo second up when beaten a neck in slick time as HOLI STARZZZ arrived. Striking trouble last start, he can force it here and see it out. SOMETHINGABOUTLEXY (1) burrowed through from gate 1 to set the speed last start but was harangued in front on the sloppy track and faded in the closing stages to finish midfield. A Dubbo winner in slick time three starts back, she has the options from this alley to challenge. MUCH BETTOR (8) loves a soft pole trip which he will secure here. Claiming the prize from the trail two starts back at Redcliffe, he will be searching for a gap to make his play. SISTA BLISS (5) was a Redcliffe winner three starts back when charging home to score a smart win. Overcoming the outside second line last start to score, she can be thereabouts again here. SELECTIONS: LEITHEN BURN (3), SOMETHINGABOUTLEXY (1), MUCH BETTOR (8), SISTA BLISS (5) SUGGESTED BET: LEITHEN BURN (3) to win
RACE NINE
Tough gates have played a part in the recent efforts of CHAMONIX (1) who two starts back faced the outside front line but still closed it out soundly behind BEACH VILLA. Making a strong closing challenge last start to get within a head of the winner, he can stalk the speed and strike here. LANAI (2) has started from the second line at his past two outings, the latest when making a strong dig in the stretch to get within a head of the winner SO SIRIUS. With arm speed to fire out from this gate, he can look to set the tempo and throw it down. ART JESTER (9) tackled a Peak of The Creek heat last start where he was slammed with the outside second line and never got into the battle. He can follow through here to feature. OFFYAROCKER CROCKER (8) will be first up from a spell at his first run since transferring to the Turpin yard. Coming through a strong trial, he will be searching for gaps to chime in. SELECTIONS: CHAMONIX (1), LANAI (2), ART JESTER (9), OFFYAROCKER CROCKER (8) SUGGESTED BET: CHAMONIX (1) to win
