Buyers will have more incentive in 2024 following the introduction of a new QBRED cashback offer.
The offer will see $2,000 (plus GST) paid to the purchaser of any QBRED horse purchased at an eligible standardbred yearling sale in 2024 for $7,500 or more.
Eligible sales include:
- APG Gold Coast Yearling Sale – January 28, 2024;
- Sunshine Stars Yearling Sale – February 12, 2024; and
- Redcliffe Yearling Sale – March 24, 2024.
Senior Racing Manager – Harness David Brick said that support for the breeding industry in Queensland – primarily via the QBRED scheme – has been a priority in recent years with over $4 million paid out in stakes and bonuses over the last 12 months.
“QBRED has been pivotal in growing participant confidence within the Queensland harness racing industry, which has in turn resulted in record race numbers, starters and prize money in recent seasons,” he said.
“The QBRED cashback offer is designed to build on this confidence and support those that breed, buy and back QBRED horses throughout the upcoming sales season.
“Importantly, the offer is available for any QBRED that sells for over $7,500 at the three sales but strictly excludes buybacks.”
QBRED’s status as the nation’s premier harness breeding incentive bonus scheme continues in 2024.
The highly vaunted scheme will once again see more than $4 million in bonuses up for grabs next year – along with more than $800,000 in feature race stakes.
The successful first-win bonus initiative returns, with $14,000 on offer when a QBRED-registered standardbred registers its first success in the Sunshine State.
The $7,500 second-win bonus will also continue, with a third win netting a bonus of $3,000.
Following its success in recent years, the ‘Transitional QBRED’ program, which allows Queensland breeders to bring in-foal mares to the subsequent foal eligible for the scheme, will also continue.
