RACE ONE
Making the most of her superb manners at her past two starts, JUST CALL ME MOLLY (6) has been able to step safely and find the ideal pocket trip on each occasion. Finishing best once angled into space each time, the 20m makes it a tougher ask, but she is in form. AURORA (1) returns from a spell after a last start fade out after coming from the 20m tape. With great manners to step, she can find herself near the pointy end and issue the challenge fresh up against this opposition. ITSARAPT (7) has been costly in recent weeks with her own manners causing problems. Runner-up three starts back, if she can trot throughout, she has the ability to take this. BUN IN THE OVEN (2) has thrown her chances away at the past two starts when making errors after release. Runner-up three back when chasing home KING CITY, the manners matter.
SELECTIONS: JUST CALL ME MOLLY (6), AURORA (1), ITSARAPT (7), BUN IN THE OVEN (2) SUGGESTED BET: JUST CALL ME MOLLY (6) to win
RACE TWO
Showing the benefit of a safer start, BURKHARDT (5) rolled straight to the front here last week and was trying to grip on in the closing stages when just missing some minor money behind KODA DA MODA. With a safe start, he can be in position to chase his first Qld victory. GLENAEGLE REIGN (7) has super manners and last start was straight into stride from the 20m tape and was outside the leader and working. Finding the front two starts back, he led deep into the stretch when 3rd to TUMULT and against this opposition will throw down the challenge. DEAD SET CRAZY (1) was safely away off the front tape last time and hanging tough outside the leader, faded over the closing stages. With a quitter trip, he can feature. ALDEBARAN FONZ (4) is moving closer to a maiden breaking victory after another minor placing last start when runner-up to KODA DA MODA. 3rd to the same winner two back, he has claims.
SELECTIONS: BURKHARDT (5), GLENAEGLE REIGN (7), DEAD SET CRAZY (1), ALDEBARAN FONZ (4) SUGGESTED BET: BURKHARDT (5) to win
RACE THREE
Runner-up at her past two starts, SHEZ GOT BLING (3) can settle close to the action from this gate. Chasing home over the 2138 last start when 8m from THE JANITOR, she was strong to the line when just a neck from BLUE BLOODZ two back. This looks within reach. TAPTHEKEG (4) has been a model of consistency in recent weeks, hitting the board in eight of his past nine starts. From inside the second line last start, he was trying to make a late raid when 4m from BLUE BLOODZ. He has the early hustle to ping out and challenge. SPORTS BOUNTY (9) held on for the bronze last start behind THE JANITOR after securing the pocket trail at the middle trip. Only 4m away the start prior, he is right in the fight. LANCELOT BROMAC (1) was too far back last start after being shuffled back from this gate and he did not get warm. With the head down to grab the bronze two back, he can be thereabouts.
SELECTIONS: SHEZ GOT BLING (3), TAPTHEKEG (4), SPORTS BOUNTY (9), LANCELOT BROMAC (1) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-3-4-9
RACE FOUR
On the four-day back-up, HOT ROD HARRY (7) displayed his class here on Friday when sent forward to sit parked and despite doing all the work, proved too strong, pulling clear to an 8m margin. That made it two wins in four starts, and he can boost the strike rate to 60% here. ARCHILLES (5) has been kept fresh and steps out for his first appearance of the season. Snagged back from gate 6 last start before making some late metres but never a factor, it followed a 3rd when under 5m from WINDY HILL WALLY. HE can challenge fresh. CAPTAIN OH CAPTAIN (1) burrowed through from this gate last start to set the tempo but was unable to see it out as CHECKNOUTTHETALENT pulled clear. He has the gate to grab a minor. SKIPPERS SWAN SONG (9) has placed at her past three in succession, the latest when rattling home to be 3m from BAD BOY BORIS. She can be charging home again here.
SELECTIONS: HOT ROD HARRY (7), ARCHILLES (5), CAPTAIN OH CAPTAIN (1), SKIPPERS SWAN SONG (9) SUGGESTED BET: HOT ROD HARRY (7) to win
RACE FIVE
Placed in three of his five appearances this season, COMMODORE JUJON (6) can look to overcome the wide gate and continue the good run of form. Best of the chasing pack behind SEND IT last start, he was collared in the closing stages when 3rd two back. He is up to this. MIDNIGHT CALM (5) makes his first appearance of the season after rounding out 2023 with a 3rd when parked from gate 6. That was in a slick mile when 8m astern of the winner ROCKTAGONAL and had followed a luckless effort behind LANAI. He can challenge fresh. LEITHEN BURN (1) has been on the ODM embargo at his past two starts which have dented the hopes. Making a late raid when 3m astern of the winner two back, the improved alley helps. KASH US BACK (8) secures the second line options and with a soft pole trip can look to turn his fortunes around after finishing 2023 in a flurry.
SELECTIONS: COMMODORE JUJON (6), MIDNIGHT CALM (5), LEITHEN BURN (1), KASH US BACK (8) SUGGESTED BET: COMMODORE JUJON (6) to win
RACE SIX
Stepping out to the 2138 for the first time in his career, DELE ROW (5) will be second up from a spell. Catching the eye on return when under 4m from the winner, he had charged home in the closing stages after sitting at the rear. If the middle trip is no concern, he can capitalise. FACT FINDER (10) chases a hat-trick of victories here after wins at the mile and then here at this trip last start. Settling in the running line before putting them away in impressive fashion last start, he faces the same gate as his latest victory and can look to repeat the power to claim the threepeat. FOUR STAR LINCOLN (1) has finished with the bronze at each of his two starts since arriving in Qld, the latest when making a late play from outside the second line. From this gate he can feature. ROLLED IN GOLD (8) was runner-up from gate 1 here two starts back after a cosy trip and last start was too slick once set free from the trail. Another pole trip appeals here.
SELECTIONS: DELE ROW (5), FACT FINDER (10), FOUR STAR LINCOLN (1), ROLLED IN GOLD (8) SUGGESTED BET: DELE ROW (5) to win
RACE SEVEN
First up in Qld lasts start, FIRESTORM RED (10) faced a wide second line gate at the middle trip and was sent forward to sit parked in the early stages. Grafting it out and just missing the money behind SEND IT, he will need to come wide again at some stage here, but a return to the mile aids his chances. STORMTIDE (1) was sent out as the fav last start from this gate in Saturday night company and taking the trail, was 3m from the winner when missing the money. Runner-up to JAZZY STAR two starts back, he snares all the options to throw down the challenge. ROCKS OR DIAMONDS (8) resumes from a spell and slides into veterans’ grade first up after turning 7YO. If able to settle in the trail, his chances will improve, and he can be chiming in. CARDLESFROMHEAVEN (9) could not get warm last start at the middle trip as SEND IT pulled clear. Beaten by gate 7 the start prior when retreating off the arm, he can be joining in.
SELECTIONS: FIRESTROM RED (10), STORMTIDE (1), ROCKS OR DIAMONDS (8), CARDLESFROMHEAVEN (9) SUGGESTED BET: FIRESTORM RED (10) to win
