RACE ONE
HEAD EM UP (1) is the big query runner, stepping out for the first time since crossing the Tasman to join the Gillespie team. A last start winner in a feature event at Addington, his trial behind pacers was enough to suggest he can be a force first up. Yet to cash in since resuming from a spell, the effort of GLENEAGLE REIGN (6) last start, suggested he is not far off returning to winning form. Best of the chasing pack behind JAY ROWE, three starts back he was 2m from the winner TUMULT. In an open contest, he can capitalise. MISS MEMPHIS (5) resumes from a spell after her last start when striking trouble in the run. With good manners off the mark, she can press forward to challenge fresh. GET USED TO IT (4) returns from a break and should take benefit from his first campaign where he was a smart debut winner. With a sound preparatory trial, he can be thereabouts.
SELECTIONS: HEAD EM UP (1), GLENEAGLE REIGN (6), MISS MEMPHIS (5), GET USED TO IT (4) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE TWO
Returning from a let up here last week, ARCHILLES (5) was strong to the line over the closing stages when 4m from the winner CAPTAIN OH CAPTAIN. 3rd here three starts back when only 5m from the in-form WINDY HILL WALLY, he finds the right opposition to chase a drought breaker. THE MAHARANI (1) started from inside the second line last time out and shuffled to three back was searching for openings when finishing midfield. Just a head away from SHEZA CRACKER the start prior when probing for the run, she has the gate to throw down the challenge. KULANI COURAGE (8) has the second line options and might look to pop into the running line in the early stages. A winner from gate 10 when hanging tough three back, he is a podium hope. BIG BOZZ (6) resumes from a spell after his last 2YO appearance in a Triad heat when 4th behind COSMIC FLYER. Preparing with a pair of Newcastle trials, a kinder gate would have been better. SELECTIONS: ARCHILLES (5), THE MAHARANI (1), KULANI COURAGE (8), BIG BOZZ (6) SUGGESTED BET: ARCHILLES (5) to win
RACE THREE
Sent out into the red last start from gate 2, SHEZ GOT BLING (1) found herself buried three back on the poles and then never had the required gaps to make her play. Grabbing the bronze, she was runner-up her previous two and from the ace can look to cash in. HESLUVABLE (2) pressed ahead from gate 3 last start and found the trail when holding on for the silver behind MISS PAU at Redcliffe. Not suited when asked to park out two runs back, he can settle near the action and gets the chance to challenge. JOEYS ON A ROLL (6) returns from a spell and Is back in the Charlie Cini team after he has prepped up in NSW with a pair of Newcastle trials. The gate hurts fresh up. SHESA POCKETROCKET (10) eased from gate 5 last start to secure position and then had superior closing power to descend on them and claim a narrow victory. She will be swooping.
SELECTIONS: SHEZ GOT BLING (1), HESLUVABLE (2), JOEYS ON A ROLL (6), SHESA POCKETROCKET (10) SUGGESTED BET: SHEZ GOT BLING (1) to win
RACE FOUR
Resuming from a spell last time out, TORQUE TOTHE MUSIC (6) eased from the wide gate and hit roadblocks on the way home as INCOGNITO saw them off from the front. Last campaign he was bumping into some handy ones as his campaign closed and he strikes the right line up. SHEZA CRACKER (8) was able to see them off here four starts back, taking them all the way with a head to spare on the wire. Beaten a head at her next start, she was trying to see it out last start in a mare’s qualifier when missing the money and only 4m away. She can follow here. CAPTAIN OH CAPTAIN (1) took the trail last start and looked set to hold on for 2nd until the hot fav galloped. That allowed him to dart through and cash in. He has the gate to feature again. BLUE BLOODZ (4) is a consistent type that does no win out of turn and has been just behind the placing in his past two after winning here three back. He can be thereabouts.
SELECTIONS: TORQUE TOTHE MUSIC (6), SHEZA CRACKER (8), CAPTAIN OH CAPTAIN (1), BLUE BLOODZ (4) SUGGESTED BET: TORQUE TOTHE MUSIC (6) win/place
RACE FIVE
An open contest here with several winning hopes. A last start 3rd when chasing, SHEZ ALL STYLE (9) was best of the chasers two back when runner-up to KULANI COURAGE. She finds the race to be closer to the speed with the right trail early and gets the chance to capitalise. TAPTHEKEG (2) eased into the trail last start when finishing 7m from the winner SHESA POCKETROCKET. Not that far away the start prior when 3rd behind BLUE BLOODZ, he can look to be first to the poles and with the options thereafter will issue the challenge. LANCELOT BROMAC (1) is likely to be shuffled back from this gate, as the old legs lack the early power. Still running on strongly in his races, he will have the head down to chase in the stretch. ROCKNROLL DA GAMA (10) was trying to work home wide off the track last start at the 2138 trip when midfield behind THE JANITOR. Back to the mile aids his chances here.
SELECTIONS: SHEZ ALL STYLE (9), TAPTHEKEG (2), LANCELOT BROMAC (1), ROCKNROLL DA GAMA (10) SUGGESTED BET: SHEZ ALL STYLE (9) to win
RACE SIX
A better conveyance when able to control his own terms, LOUTENANT (5) might just have the hustle to charge across here and if lighting the lamps, will be a hard nut to crack. Striking trouble last start when trying to work into it wide out, he finds his chance to dictate. MIDNIGHT CALM (3) should take good benefit from his last start where he was returning from a let up. Settling in the 1x1 trail, he was able to hold on for the bronze behind COMMODORE JUJON. 3rd at his previous appearance late last season, he can press forward to throw it down. NICKS PICK (8) remained undefeated in three starts since returning from a spell when charging home over the top of them last time out. He will be probing for open road here. COMMODORE JUJON (7) has been in consistent form I recent outings, proving too strong in front last start when running some strong time. The gate hurts his chances here.
SELECTIONS: LOUTENANT (5), MIDNIGHT CALM (3), NICKS PICK (8), COMMODORE JUJON (7) SUGGESTED BET: LOUTENANT (5) to win
RACE SEVEN
Showing the benefit of the class drop to tackle this grade two starts back, SEND IT (6) was far too classy in pulling clear to claim a 9m victory. Duking it out in FFA grade on Saturday night when 1m from DEUS EX, back to this grade can see him back with the W. ROCKTAGONAL (2) has been bereft of luck in recent weeks before finally something went his way here on Saturday. About to be buried in the run, a scrimmage in front found him in the pocket trail and then darting up the passing lane to score. On the short back up, the gate helps. MIRACLE MOOSE (10) found FUTURE ASSURED too slick last time out which had followed a tidy 3rd when chasing SEND IT in this grade. Despite the gate, he can be running on late. JAZZY STAR (11) was allowed to roll here three back and was able to claim a big win after covering a lot of the oval. Down the line in both since, in this grade he can be thereabouts.
SELECTIONS: SEND IT (6), ROCKTAGONAL (2), MIRACLE MOOSE (10), JAZZY STAR (11) SUGGESTED BET: SEND IT (6) to win
RACE EIGHT
After three runs here at The Creek, FOUR STAR LINCOLN (3) has been in the money in all three, the latest when a handy 2nd behind the smart FACT FINDER. Rough in his gear before the starter released them two back and 3rd behind subsequent winner SIR BRIGADOON, he can cash in here. DEFENCE ATTORNEY (9) is only lightly raced but has shown his share of ability in both appearances. Eased early before charging home when beaten a pimple behind KING OF TRUMPS last time out, his win the start prior was full of merit and he can be throwing it down. ALWAYS LOCKSLEY (6) makes his Qld appearance for Ron Sallis, arriving with a last start 2nd at Bendigo when asked to hang tough in the run. The wide gate makes it an ask first up. KEAYANG TARA (1) was a winner from gate 7 here two starts back and then last time was strong to the line when 3rd. A soft trip behind the action is her ideal set up.
SELECTIONS: FOUR STAR LINCOLN (3), DEFENCE ATTORNEY (9), ALWAYS LOCKSLEY (6), KEAYANG TARA (1) SUGGESTED BET: FOUR STAR LINCOLN (3) to win
