Broodbitch Dyna Bella would have been a proud mother at her Burpengary home on Tuesday afternoon when Gold Dynamite broke through for his maiden victory.

Still yet to turn two years of age, Gold Dynamite had been luckless in his first half a dozen trips to the races.

In those six starts, the white brindle dog had run in the money on five occasions as well as going 24.99 seconds over the 431 metres late last month when finishing second.

From a Hooked On Scotch and Dyna Bella mating, Gold Dynamite finally found his race to win on Tuesday afternoon from the Showgrounds track.

The opening event from Ipswich on Tuesday was named the Racing Queensland Supports Racing Industry Safety.

In landing the first victory of his career as a race dog, Gold Dynamite handed Dyna Bella’s owner and breeder Kirsty Druery the first winner in her time as a trainer.

The long-retired Dyna Bella is living out her days at Druery’s house and will sleep in her bedroom.

She won five races and was placed on 12 occasions from 68 starts before retiring in late 2019.

“It is extra special having bred the dog,” Druery said.

“To be able to train a winner with a dog you have had since the day he was born, it is great.

“We love the dog to bits and he will have a home with us for life after his racing career, as well.

“Dyna Bella is just over eight years of age now and we were always going to keep her as a pet.”

Starting as the pre-race favourite from the pink draw, Gold Dynamite raced wide in the early exchanges but knuckled down to the task approaching the home turn to edge past the early leaders.

Druery has been involved with the greyhound industry for many years and started her first runner in a race in early September.

She has three chasers in the kennel, all littermates from Hooked On Scotch and Dyna Bella.

Gold Dynamite’s siblings Lakoda Wombat and My Bella Scotch have been to the races, as well.

Druery is hopeful My Bella Scotch has a bright future, noting the black bitch is a bit stronger than Gold Dynamite at this stage.

Druery – who works as a pharmacist away from her small team of dogs – was chuffed to be at the races on Tuesday to celebrate the milestone occasion.

“I was shaking, there were tears – I was over the moon to win the race,” the rookie trainer said.

“It was the best feeling, it was amazing. I knew that he could run but he has been so unlucky.

“To run 24.99 seconds at Ipswich and get beaten, you have to be pretty unlucky. He has been so unlucky throughout his racing.

“I thought if he got a clean run then I thought he could win the race.

“He is a lovely natured dog and I was over the moon for the dog himself as he is a beautiful dog and deserved the win after how unlucky he had been in his previous starts.”

Scoring in 25.26 seconds over the Ipswich 431 metre trip, Druery is eager to get her kennel star up to the 520 metres in town.

He has been to Albion Park on three occasions over the ‘shorts’ of 331 metres and she is likely to give him a post-to-post at the venue soon to then target a novice event on a Thursday evening.

“I suspect with his run home times he will run 520 metres but time will tell,” she said.
