The stars of Stradbroke Season have been acknowledged at the 2023/2024 Australian Racehorse of the Year Awards.

In total, 10 awards were handed out in Adelaide last night, with Pride Of Jenni narrowly eclipsing Without A Fight, Imperatriz, Riff Rocket and Mr Brightside to be crowned the nation’s best.

Unsurprisingly, the front-running superstar was also named the Champion Middle Distance Horse.

In the Champion Two-Year-Old Award, Broadsiding was a popular winner as the Godolphin colt won four stakes’ races including the Group 2 BRC Sires’ Produce at Eagle Farm, before demolishing the field in the Group 1 JJ Atkins a fortnight later.

Broadsiding has not missed a beat since resuming this season with a fourth Group 1 triumph in the Golden Rose last month and is a prohibitive $1.50 favourite in this week’s Caulfield Guineas before a likely tilt at the Cox Plate.

Broadsiding and James McDonald take out the JJ Atkins.

In the Champion Three-Year-Old Filly Award, Stefi Magnetica reigned supreme for Bjorn Baker and Cunningham Thoroughbreds as she thrilled her Queensland ownership team.

Stefi Magnetica was simply brilliant throughout the Queensland Racing Carnival as she peaked superbly to win the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap after superb showings in the Doomben 10,000 and Fred Best Classic.

Resuming in the Group 2 The Shorts last month, she was desperately unlucky not to add another stakes’ win to her resume, storming home to finish second on the line to I Am Me.

Group 1 success during the Queensland Racing Carnival proved a strong recipe for a number of finalists including I Wish I Win, Bella Nipotina and Warmonger.

Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Storm Boy was also nominated in the Champion Two-Year-Old Award.
