Talented filly Bollinger Miss is still a work in progress but her co-trainer Chris Munce is hoping to pop the champagne after she tackles the QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Bollinger Miss is coming off a courageous second when she ran into the highly-rated Matthew Dunn-trained Scripted at Doomben on October 5.

Dunn has a big opinion of the unbeaten Scripted and is plotting a path with his filly towards the $3 million Magic Millions Guineas at the Gold Coast in January.

Chris Munce, who trains in partnership with his son Corey, has set a similar campaign and is also targeting the Magic Millions Guineas with Bollinger Miss.

Chris has always had a good opinion of Bollinger Miss since the day she entered his stable and is looking forward to stepping her out to 1400 metres for the first time.

“She’s a tough filly and I’ve liked her from day one,” Chris said.

“She cops plenty of work and she’s been good since she ran second last start.

“I’ve got no doubt she’ll acquit herself well over 1400 metres as she’s bred to get further.

“Who knows how far she’ll run and only time will tell. It could be 2000 metres or 2400 metres.”

Bollinger Miss underlined her toughness when she won her maiden over 1110 metres from the outside barrier at Doomben last month.

A daughter of Zousain, Bollinger Miss is out of the Not Single Doubt mare, Fancy Liquor, who was placed twice from only four starts for trainers Bjorn Baker and Archie Alexander.

She was knocked down for $150,000 at the Magic Millions Yearling sales.

“She won’t have any trouble with 1400 metres on Saturday and she’ll probably have a freshen up after this,” Chris said.

“She’s a Magic Millions filly so she’ll be aimed for the traditional lead-up races like the Mode Stakes and Vo Rogue Plate before the Magic Millions Guineas.”

Chris won the Magic Millions Guineas with Boomsara in 2019 when he was training on his own.

'Team Munce' is currently equal-third with 10 wins in the Brisbane trainer’s premiership behind Tony Gollan who leads with 26 wins.

“The stable is going really well considering we only have 46 horses in work compared to some of the bigger stables,” Chris said.
