Racing Queensland has appointed experienced industry administrator Andrew Clarke to the position of Senior Racing Manager – Harness.

Mr Clarke brings more than a decade of industry experience to RQ, overseeing the strategic management of harness racing operations and commercial performance.

Working across both harness and greyhound codes, Mr Clarke spent the last 12 years at Entain managing the respective trading teams, whilst also serving as a Racing Supervisor (Special Projects) and Strategy Lead.

He also served as board member and Deputy Chair at the Albion Park Harness Racing Club from June, 2024, ceasing his term following this appointment.

RQ General Manager – Racing David Brick said Mr Clarke’s vast knowledge and experience in the harness racing code – both as an administrator and fan – will ensure his success in the role.

“Andrew is a passionate harness racing man through and through, and brings a unique skillset to the role which made him the outstanding candidate,” Mr Brick said.

“His tenure as Deputy Chair at the APHRC ensures he comes to RQ with a strong foundation at a club level, building on his vast experience in the wagering landscape.

“On the back of the inaugural Ultimate Driver Championship in February, and looking ahead to the Inter Dominion and Queensland Constellations more broadly, it’s an exciting time to be involved in the code.”

Mr Clarke will commence at RQ on March 17, succeeding Mr Brick following his appointment as GM of Racing in December, 2024.

“It is an honour to accept this position. I know that I have big shoes to fill but I am committed to working diligently with our stakeholders and participants to build on the great work already done,” Mr Clarke said.

“The recent Ultimate Drivers Championship highlights the national and international recognition of our local industry as innovative and progressive.

“I am passionate about harness racing and bring a diverse range of experiences to the role, which I will draw upon to ensure future growth and sustainability.”
