Racing Queensland is calling on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists to assist in the design of its latest NAIDOC Celebration Artwork.
The artwork will be highlighted and celebrated during RQ NAIDOC Celebration races across the three codes of racing, as part of RQ’s commitment to reconciliation with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Submissions are to tell the story of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and non-Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait islander people coming together to celebrate the former’s culture within the racing industry.
The winning submission will receive a prize of $2,000, as well as a framed set of the silks incorporating the winning design, and an invitation to attend RQ NAIDOC Celebration races in 2025.
The competition is now open to all Queensland-based artists, and will close at 5pm on February 21, 2025.
The inaugural RQ NAIDOC Celebration Artwork competition is part of the organisation’s ongoing commitment in our journey towards reconciliation, and strengthening its connections with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander business, peoples, and communities.

• Reconciliation Action Plan;
• First Nations Strategy;
• Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander Employment Strategy;
• Racing For Reconciliation video series; and
• First Nations Careers page.
The page also features a photo gallery, a list of club locations with traditional names and a contact page.
