Racing Queensland has implemented new measures to support thoroughbred participants in the northern half of the state.
In recent weeks, a number of meetings in Central and North Queensland have been abandoned due to inclement weather, with flooding also impacting several clubs.
As a result, RQ has revised its March and April programming to schedule additional races, along with increased prize money at selective meetings.
An additional $2,000 in stakes has been added to all 49 races across the six meetings programmed at both the Cairns Jockey Club and Townsville Turf Club in March.
A number of races have also been added to meetings throughout March and April, including:
- Cairns Jockey Club – March 3;
- Mackay Turf Club – April 1;
- Townsville Turf Club – April 15; and
- Rockhampton Jockey Club – April 22.
