Experienced wagering and gaming leader James Waddell has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Albion Park Harness Racing Club.
Born in Scotland, but calling Queensland home for the last 20 years, Mr Waddell takes the role after successful stints at UBET where he served as GM Wagering (Fixed Odds) and more recently at PlayUp Ltd, where he held the position of Chief Operations Officer.
Internationally, he spent 10 years working with Carnival Cruise Lines, managing their onboard Casino Operations.
APHRC Chairman Greg Mitchell welcomed Mr Waddell to the new role.
"James brings a collaborative, leadership excellence, where his personality and charisma has unveiled the true potential of great organisations," Mr Mitchell said.
"The board is looking forward to this exciting appointment and what James will bring to our club and industry.
"With such an iconic event like the Inter Domnion just around the corner, James will have a great opportunity to hit the ground running."
Mr Waddell said he could not think of a better time to be involved in harness racing with the upcoming Inter Dominion Series in July.
The finals will be held at Albion Park where champion Queensland pacer and recent Hall of Fame inductee Leap To Fame will be on show as he continues to push his claim to be the greatest harness horse of all time.
Mr Waddell will step into his new role from Tuesday, March 18.
