Previously based at Townsville, Bradley Belford and wife Jackie have moved their training base to Churchable in South East Queensland to ‘experience The Q’.

With Tropical Cyclone Alfred looming, Racing Queensland has cancelled all greyhound meetings at Albion Park until Sunday, March 9 to provide the Queensland Greyhound Racing Club with sufficient time to implement flood mitigation strategies.

Belford had veteran kennel favourite, Here Wolfe, programmed to jump from box one over 600 metres at Albion Park on Thursday night.

Here Wolfe is from the incredible Sennachie and Kealoah litter, which includes track great Jay Is Jay (prizemoney of $1.56 million) as well as All Natural ($335,225) and Cluster ($216,360).

To date that litter has won almost $2.5 million in prizemoney.

Here Wolfe’s contribution so far is $85,925.

“I was only saying to Jackie recently that I would look to retire him over the next few months,” Belford said.

“He may be an old race dog, but is still performing and you can never write him off and I believe he still has a couple of more good wins in him.

“He has been such a great campaigner for us. Always trying. A great chaser. Consistent. Just loves to race and earns almost every week.”

However, it is Here Wolfe’s off-track demeanour that will force Belford to do what he has never done before – take one of his race dogs on as a pet.

“Yes, he will be the first,” Belford said.

“I have always had plenty of greyhounds around over the years, so have never needed one as a pet.

“But, he is such a nice dog, so placid. When we decide to go back to our Townsville home he can just come along, truck around the joint and just do what he likes.”
