RACING QUEENSLAND STEWARDS REPORT BARCALDINE RACING CLUB – SATURDAY 4thNOV, 2017 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – SAND (4) RAIL – TRUE ENTIRE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – Ms K. McCrackenClerk of Scales – G. ScottJudge – B. MuttonVeterinarian – D. McKenzieStarter- M. Cullen Race 1: BARCALDINE RACE CLUB CLASS B HANDICAP - 1000 metres BOLD TRAVELLER – Travelled wide for much of the race. WESTBURY ROAD – Slow to begin, then travelled wide for most of the event. Shifted ground down the home straight and had to be corrected on several occasions. DEFYING LUCK – Travelled wide for the majority of the event. I’M LADDIE’S MISS – Contacted at the start when an outside runner jumped awkwardly, then eased nearing the 800m when front runners shifted ground. LADY BLUIRE – Jumped away awkwardly contacting the inside runner, then eased off heels near the 800m when front runners crossed when not sufficiently clear. Race 2: ‘MYAGAH’ – B. TURNER & I. CLEWS OPEN HANDICAP - 1000 metres GIRLS AWAY – Slow to begin and travelled wide in the early stages. ALPINE GOLD – Head hold not released fast enough causing the gelding to rear and be slow away. NO ONTHER WAY – Slow to begin and travelled wide for much of the race. Race 3: BARCALDINE SANDGOANNAS OLD BOYS MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 metres PURE ATOM was a late scratching at 11:00am as there were no available riders. NEVADA MO – Slow to begin. IMPLICATE – Travelled wide in the middle and late stages. SIDEREUS SMILE – Dipped then reared at the start being awkward away. GYPSIES MISCHIEF – Jumped away awkwardly then raced greenly throughout. ECHELON ROSE – Resented the kickback and was taken wider on the track to race. Race 4: BARCY SPARKY MEMORIAL QTIS CLASS 3 PLATE - 1200 metres HIDDEN ROAD – Jumped away awkwardly when the gates came back hitting the gelding in the head, throwing it in the air and jumping sideward and proving difficult to ride out and then hung for the majority. I KAN CONQUER – Eased shortly after the start when outside runners came across quickly. DRINKING COCKTAILS – Jockey V. Venkaya dropped his whip at the 250m and the mare shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. SPUR WITH EASE – Jockey R. Faehr viewed the patrol footage prior to correct weight being given. EQUAL RULER – Jockey P. Romeo was fined the sum of $200 under AR.137(b) when he failed to ride the mare out to the end of the race when in contention for a placing. Race 5: INDUSTRIAL INSPECTORS CUP RATINGS BAND 0 – 55 HANDICAP - 1600 metres MISHANI CENTURION – Travelled wide in the early stages. BARBERANCE – Failed to stretch out at any stage of the race and apprentice E. Bell stated the horse felt awkward. Trainer D. O’Brien advised the gelding would be going to the paddock for a spell and treatment. CHATARA – Hung in for the much of the race and proved extremely difficult to ride out.
