STEWARDS REPORT BARCALDINE RACING CLUB – SATURDAY 2ND DECEMBER, 2017 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – DIRT (3) RAIL – TRUE ENTIRE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – Ms K. McCrackenClerk of Scales – G. Cullen There was a delay to the start of race 1 as track maintenance was carried out on a section of the track, which had surface water present. Race 1: UNION HOTEL BM 55 HANDICAP - 1000 metres BOLD TRAVELLER and SPURSYN bumped on jumping. WESTBURY ROAD – Slow to begin and showed no early speed then travelled wide throughout. ARTANIS – Stood in barrier refusing to jump. Jockey V. Venkaya retired the gelding from the race. Trainer H. Forster was advised a barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards would have to be passed prior to racing again. Race 2: ROONEY’S STOCKCAMP SADDLERY MAIDEN PLATE - 1100 metres SERIOUS CAPER was a late scratching at 1.20pm as there were no riders available. AMBER TOPS – Travelled wide for the majority. GYPSIES MISCHIEF – Travelled wide in the early stages. Race 3: THANK YOU CAPRICORN PLUMBING & BUILDING SUPPLIES OPEN HANDICAP - 1200 metres CRAWFISH and ICE MELODY were both late scratchings at 1.20pm as there were no jockeys available. HOLEY GADOLEY – Knuckled at the start causing the gelding to be slow into stride. ROYAL FROLIC – Slow into stride. Race 4: THANK YOU BARCALDINE WELDING WORKS CLASS B HANDICAP - 1300 metres ONE UP was a late scratching at 1.20pm as there were no riders available. LOTHBROK – Jumped inwards contacting an inside runner. DEFYING LUCK – Jumped outwards heavily contacting an outside runner. ECHELON ROSE – Contacted heavily at the start when runners either side jumped away awkwardly. DO I HAVE TO – Travelled wide for the majority. Race 5: THANK YOU TANGLED IN HAIR & BARCY LAZY BEAR BM 60 HANDICAP - 1300 metres HOW BIG’S THE HOLE, NORTHERN MAGIC, BLETCHY BOY, FASTPITCH and IBELIEVEINMIRACLES were all late scratching’s as there were no riders available. Jockey M. Hart was the rider of SPECK OF GOLD and permitted by stewards to ride 1kg overweight as there were no other riders available. STYLISH LUCK – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride. SILENT RAGE – Slow into stride and shifted out under pressure down the home straight. PUNISHING – Travelled wide in the early and middle stages. SPECK OF GOLD – Travelled wide for the majority.
