GENERAL
 
Due to the weather forecasted, Stewards conducted the meeting acting under the Extreme Heat Policy.
 
As Jockey E. Bell was indisposed following the running of Race 4, rider replacements were as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
 
Race 1: BARCOO PASTORAL AGENCIES QTIS Maiden Plate (1300 Metres)
 
ALL HELL – Bumped shortly after the start by JULIMAR.
 
COLONEL VON TRAPP – Dipped shortly after jumping. Nearing the 600m, checked to avoid the heels of MACFARLANE (GB) which shifted in when insufficiently clear to do so. Jockey R. Faehr, the rider of MACFARLANE (GB) pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(a) for shifting in when insufficiently clear to do so, resulting in COLONEL VON TRAPP having to check and lose its rightful running. Jockey Faehr’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days commencing midnight 11th November 2023 and to conclude midnight 18th November 2023. Jockey Faehr was advised of his rights of appeal.
 
FELONIOUS – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly shorting after the start. Commenced to hang in the early stages of the event.
 
HERE’S HARRY – Jumped away awkwardly. Commenced to hang in passing the 1200m. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
JULIMAR – Shifted out on jumping, bumping ALL HELL.
 
WANTED NED – Delayed the start after proving difficult to load. Trainer R. Hermann was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of WANTED NED for being difficult to load. Commenced to hang in near the 1000m.
 
WOLF POINT – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
RUNINSCARED – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Had to momentarily steady when awkwardly placed onto the heels of COLONEL VON TRAPP passing the 600m. Apprentice S. Robbins was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.

 
Race 2: CPC ISIS DOWNS ROSS CUP OPEN Handicap (1300 Metres)
 
MENINDEE – Laid out over the concluding stages. Jockey D. Graham was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.
 
COZHECANCAN – Raced wide in the early stages of the event. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
MORICONI – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping.
 
JAKAMA – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages of the event. Became awkwardly placed onto the heels of COZHECANCAN passing the 100m.
 
STRIKE POINT – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
TIDAL RUSH – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Shortly after jumping, attempted to buck for a number of strides. Trainer G. Bignall was advised that TIDAL RUSH would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next future race start.

 
Race 3: AUSTRALIAN LIVESTOCK COMPANY QTIS Maiden Plate (1000 Metres)
 
CHARGRILL – Bumped by AVOIDS on jumping. Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
IMPENDING RAIN – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
KEN DYLAN – Slow to begin.
 
POMPEY’S VALOUR – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping.
 
AVOIDS – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, bumping CHARGRILL.
 
READY AND WAITING – Jumped away awkwardly, making contact with the inside barrier partition. Apprentice B. Johnson was fined $300 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on 8 occasions prior to the 100m, 3 more than permitted.  

 
Race 4: BARCALDINE RUGBY LEAGUE GOLDEN OLDIES BENCHMARK 50 Handicap (1000 Metres)
 
JATOBI – Near the 50m, had momentarily restrain after racing in restricted room.
 
BEN STARS – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
SEENUSCOMING – Hampered on jumping by LEIBERT LASS which shifted out and DESIGNED TO RUN which shifted in. Shortly after the start was pulled up by its rider and took no competitive part in the event and failed to finish. When questioned, Jockey M. Schrapel stated that near the 900m his mount felt very awkward in its action, and he refused to place SEENUSCOMING under any further pressure from that point in the event. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. Trainer H. Forster was advised that the gelding would be required to trial prior to its next future race start. Whilst no obvious abnormalities were detected during the post-race veterinary examination, in the circumstances, Trainer H. Forster was advised that SEENUSCOMING would require a veterinary clearance of soundness prior to its required trial.
 
DESIGNED TO RUN – Shifted in on jumping, hampering SEENUSCOMING. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
DREYFUS – Bumped with I AM JIMMY shortly after the start. Held up in the early stages of the home straight. Had to shift wider in the home straight to avoid ALLELUIA.
 
ALGEROBA – Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
I AM JIMMY – Bumped with DREYFUS shortly after the start.
 
LEIBERT LASS – Shifted out on jumping, hampering SEENUSCOMING. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
ALLELUIA – Near the 250m ALLELUIA fell, dislodging Jockey E. Bell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had bled from both nostrils, with no other abnormalities detected. Trainer C. Austin reported to stewards that ALLELUIA would now be immediately retired, however Trainer Austin was advised of the provisions of AR79(4), if ALLELUIA was to resume a racing career. Trainer Austin was also requested to report back on the condition of ALLELUIA in the days subsequent. Jockey E. Bell was transported to hospital for further treatment for a concussion. Jockey Bell was advised that she would be placed under the RQ Concussion Protocols and would be required to provide a medical certificate and to complete a cognitive test prior to any future rides. 
 
HOT CHOCOLATE – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

 
Race 5: GBA CONSULTING ENGINEERS COUNTRY STAMPEDE QUALIFIER OPEN Handicap (1100 Metres)
 
AHWAHNEECHEE – Bumped with HARALBEN on jumping.
 
KALASHNIKOV – Fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any abnormalities. 
 
PARKO – Overraced in the early stages of the event. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
GOLDEN ATHENA – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Near the 300m, was momentarily inconvenienced and had to shift out to obtain clear racing room after being placed onto the heels of KALASHNIKOV.
 
HARALBEN – Bumped with AHWAHNEECHEE on jumping. Laid out when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
FREDDIE EDDIE – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
TYCOON BABY – When questioned regarding today’s performance, Apprentice B. Johnson stated that overall, she wasn’t disappointed with the run and that TYCOON BABY was stepping back in distance and in her opinion is better suited to distances further than today’s event. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
WARRAH FLASH – Slow to begin.
 
KOSOWSKI – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Jumped away awkwardly.
 
ENTREPRENEURIAL – Commenced to overrace in the early stages of the event. Held up for clear racing room until passing the 200m. Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
 
Race 6: NAPCO PORTLAND DOWNS Class 5 Plate (1200 Metres)
 
HALLSIDE HOT STUFF – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
HEYINGTON STATION – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping.

SHARPAY RULER – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
BAUHINIA BEANS – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
 
Race 7: OMA CONTRACTING DENIS O’BRIEN MEMORIAL RATINGS BAND 0 – 55 Handicap (1200 Metres)
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Apprentice S. Robbins, the rider of ROGER EXPRESS (NZ,) viewed the available stewards patrol footage for possible protest. After viewing the films, Apprentice Robbins declined to proceed and correct weight was declared on the judge’s placings.
 
ROGER EXPRESS (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages of the event. Was momentarily inconvenienced near the 100m when PREFERRAL (NZ) shifted in and FORGED IN STONE shifted out slightly.
 
PREFERRAL (NZ) – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Near the 100m, shifted in and momentarily inconveniencing ROGER EXPRESS (NZ).
 
ELECTRIC SPIRIT – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
MISTREY EMPEROR – Overraced in the early and middle stages of the event.
 
PURPLE SONG – Raced wide in the early stages of the event. Commenced to hang in passing the 1000m.
 
ROSETTES – Was declared a late scratching at 2:45pm due to no suitable rider available.
 
FORGED IN STONE – Near the 100m, shifted out slightly and momentarily inconveniencing ROGER EXPRESS (NZ).
 
LORD LOBSTER – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
RED ZORRO – Near the 200m, elected to shift out to obtain clear racing room. Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
SAW THAT COMING – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin.
 
 
Race 8: DOUG ‘GESHIE’ GESCH MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 60 Handicap (1600 Metres)
 
GYPSY BIKER – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
FANTWA – Raced wide in the early stages of the event.
 
BRETON – Bumped on jumping by AZOUSTIC.
 
AZOUSTIC – Bumped BRENTON on jumping. Raced wide in the early stages of the event. Commenced to overrace passing the 1200m.
 
DEEP UNDERCOVER – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event.
 
MONDIAL EXPRESS – Elected to race wide before obtaining a position outside the lead near the 1100m.
