As Jason Missen and Apprentice D. McGillivray were not able to attend the meeting, rider replacements were made as per the Stewards Raceday Summary.

The following horses were declared late scratchings at 8.35 am due to no rider being available:

Race 4. Aussie Tycoon
Race 5. Lucifer’s Angel, Star From Heaven, Gossiaux

Race 1: Lindsay Australia QTIS Maiden Plate – 1212m

JUST FOR GLORY – Began awkwardly. Laid in in the home straight.

PERMAFROST – Jockey L. McCoy reported that the gelding failed to muster early speed and resented kick-back. However when taken wider rounding the home turn the gelding ran on well.




Race 2: Wessel Petroleum Ratings Band 0-60 H’cap – 850m

UBIRR ROCK – Fractious prior to the start being effected. Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.

BIG SHAKA – Slow to begin.

CARTLAND – Began awkwardly.

ROYAL EQUIANO – Hung out rounding the home turn.


Race 3: Ulton Open H’cap – 1090m

THE MECHANIC – Tightened for room shortly after the start. Made the home turn wide.

BEL SELEVA - Hung out rounding the home turn.

EMPEROR MAXIMILIAN – As the gelding had not raced for over 12 months it underwent a pre race veterinary examination and was cleared to race. Slow to begin. Tightened for room shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout. Laid out in the home straight.

Race 4: The Waves Sports Club Benchmark 65 H’cap – 1380m

ELUSIVE ELEMENT – Due to no other rider being available stewards permitted jockey S. McGovern to ride half a kilogram overweight. Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Hung out rounding the home turn. Laid out in the home straight.

NINE CIGARS – Due to no other rider being available stewards permitted jockey C. Bryen to ride a half a kilogram overweight. Jockey C. Bryen was fined $200 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m. In assessing penalty stewards took into account jockey Bryen’s exemplary record regarding breaches of this rule.

LAYLA’S LAD – Blundered at the start.

PRINCE OF VENICE – Apprentice S. Stephan reported her mount resented the kickback and was reluctant to stride she added that the gelding was inclined to lay in in the home straight proving difficult to ride.

HARBOUR SKIES – Raced wide throughout.

TORRIENTE – Jockey H. Phillips reported her mount resented the kickback during the race.



Race 5: 7News Benchmark 45 H’cap – 1090m

ATOMIC MISSILE – Began awkwardly.

DUAN PHOENIX – Slow to begin.

SENKO SIDRA – Laid in in the home straight.

TRUMPFUL – Jockey S. McGovern reported that his mount did not appreciate the sand track.


Race 6: The Kalki Moon Distillery Ratings Band 0-55 H’cap – 1212m

The start of this race was delayed when COBB ‘N’ COB was presented to the enclosure with unapproved tendon bandages. Subsequently the bandages were removed by order of the stewards, and the horse underwent a veterinary examination and was declared a late scratching at 3.17 pm. Trainer T. Back was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to its next race start.

SIP SIP SIP – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

SIOUXSIE – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.

DIA VERNON – Raced wide throughout.
