Race 1 – Maiden Plate (1090 METRES)
 
CLANG’S TATT – When asked to comment on the performance apprentice S Stephan reported the horse travelled well in the early stages, however when crossed by runners leaving the 500m failed to respond to her riding from that point and was disappointing. Trainer K Afford was of the opinion CLANG’S TATT is better suited to races over a shorter distance than that of today.
 
FOXY FIVE – Inconvenienced and had to be steadied passing the 500m when DAULAT UTI MAIORA shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice S Willis, rider of DAULAT UTI MAIORA, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. When asked to comment on the performance of FOXY FIVE rider H Richardson advised the horse was not suited by today’s sand track conditions.
 
HUSH PUPPY – Slow to begin then unable to muster speed in the early stages. Apprentice A Donald was reminded of her obligations to ride her mounts out to the end of the race.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed a small amount of blood in the mouth, consistent with a tooth having been dislodged.
 
 
Race 2 – Class B Hdcp (1090 METRES)
 
SUNSOUTGUNSOUT – Declared a late scratching at 12:30pm due to a transport delay.
 
CLAIRVUE JET – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
RASHEED – Jumped away awkwardly resulting in rider G Hayes losing use of his off-side before at a point near the 300m G Hayes became further unbalanced and was dislodged from RASHEED. G Hayes was examined by QAS staff and cleared of any injury. RASAHEED underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.  
 
LORD RIVERS – Raced three wide in the early and middle stages of the event.
 
MEGLIO - Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SHOOTFORTHESTAR – Rider R Wilson reported the horse travelled comfortably in the run however when placed under pressure at the entrance to the home straight was disappointing. Trainer D Gardiner indicated this was the second start on a sand surface where SHOOTFORTHESTAR had not performed to its potential. 
 
 
Race 3 – BENCHMARK 60 Hdcp (1212 METRES)
 
WALSHIE – Began awkwardly and lost ground, then slow to muster speed in the early stages. Race wide throughout and made the home turn wide on the track.
 
RUTTO – Apprentice S Wilson, rider of RUTTO, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted.
 
TOY BLAZE – Apprentice S Stephan, rider of TOY BLAZE, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m, two more than permitted.
 
SHENZI – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event.
 
DAUNTING PRINCESS – Slow to begin. Race wide throughout.
 
 
Race 4 – Open Hdcp (850 METRES)
 
DYNAMIC VERSE – Raced three wide throughout the event.
 
FORTNITE – Weakened noticeably over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have bled from both nostrils for the second time. Trainer A Jones was advised FORTNITE would now incur a lifetime ban from racing under AR79(6).
 
DOLCI – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 5 – Open Hdcp (1380 METRES)
 
SVINDA – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
DAUNTING QUEEN – In light of today’s disappointing performance trainer M Hassam indicated the horse would now be sent for an immediate spell.
 
WRECKING BALL – Apprentice R Wilson, rider of WRECKING BALL, had her license to ride in races suspended for a period of 7 days to commence midnight 23rd July up to and including midnight 30th July 2022 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on twelve occasions prior to the 100m, 7 more than permitted.
 
DARE TO SHARE – Raced wide throughout. K Gates, rider of DARE TO SHARE, was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on eight occasions prior to the 100m, 3 more than permitted.
 
SAN PIERRE – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
RED MONKEY – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
 
Race 6 – Benchmark 50 Hdcp (1380 METRES)
 
JENO – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
DIVENIRE – After racing wide for the majority of the event, made the home turn very wide on the track.
 
FUDGINIT – In the presence of trainer G Richardson, apprentice A Donald, rider of fifth placegetter FUDGINIT, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR131(b) in that she failed to ride the horse out to the end of the race. Apprentice Donald was fined $200. In assessing penalty Stewards were of the opinion apprentice Donald’s actions had cost FUDGINIT fourth place.
