Morton Race 1: TOOWOOMBA TRUCK SPARES/HASTINGS DEERING MAIDEN PLATE - 1100 metres SPUD was a late scratching at 12:00pm on veterinary advice. OREZIRA – Contacted at the start. STAR EXPRESS – Slow into stride. THE FAB THREE – Travelled wide for much of the race. TRUFFLE HUNTER – Jumped outwards contacting another runner and ran about down the home straight and had to be corrected on several occasions. Race 2: PRINCE HOLDINGS/MEAD PERRY GROUP OPEN HANDICAP - 1000 metres BENCHI PEGASUS – Slow to begin and was carried wider on the first turn when an inside runner hung out. CAMBOOYA ROCK – Travelled wide in the middle stages. ROTHSTEIN – Jumped outwards and hung out rounding the first turn.Race 3: TOBY HARRIS BIRDSVILLE HOTEL/KABZS PLUMBING CLASS B HANDICAP - 1000 metres RICH AND RECKLESS – Slow into stride. SHE’S SO MEAN – Slow into stride. WINDCHARM – Travelled wide for much of the race. VALPONS – Eased shortly after the start when the saddle shifted losing ground and then travelled wide. Race 4: GEORGE BOURNE & ASSOC/NAPCO BEDOURIE CUP OPEN HANDICAP - 1600 metres MENACING was a late scratching at 12:00pm on veterinary advice. SAMMY SPARROW – Stood flat footed in the barriers losing considerable ground then jumped awkwardly. Trainer T. Austin was advised a barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards is required prior to the gelding starting again. GRAND TETON – Jumped outwards. CONSENTED – Raced ungenerously. Jockey S. McGovern advised that the gelding will now be retired. EASY BEST – Travelled wide for much of the race. RACE 5: MCINNES WILSON/CAVA HYDRAULICS/CITY & COUNTRY REALTY QTIS BM 55 HANDICAP – 1200 metres HUSSON’S SHOUT was a late scratching as there were no riders available. Jockey J. Lait was the rider of RIDGES PRIDE. WICKED EXPRESS – Bounded out of the gates and was then contacted by another runner. BAGGINS – The barrier gates bounced back hindering the start of the gelding. Laid in under pressure down the home straight. BEE DOUBLE BEE – Jumped outwards contacting an outside runner. DURANT – Eased approaching the 700m when outside runners shifted ground, placing the gelding in restricted room. Race 6: BILBY HAULAGE KAMARAN DOWNS JEAN SMITH MEMORIAL CLASS 6 HANDICAP - 1300 metres SPINY BURR was a late scratching as there were no riders available. BELLS ‘N’ BOWS – Slow to begin. CAN HE RAP – Resented the kickback. HUSSON’S SHOUT – Travelled wide for the majority. THE GREYMOUTH GIRL – Raced ungenerously.
