QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT BEAUDESERT RACE CLUB – SUNDAY 26 JANUARY 2020 WEATHER – OVERCAST TRACK RATING – SOFT 7; Upgraded to a SOFT 6 after Race 3 RAIL – TRUE ENTIRE COURSE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – P. WoodhamStewards Secretary – L. Stokes Race 1: QTIS 2YO Maiden Plate – 1200m Due to personal reasons, Jockey R. Plumb was replaced with Jockey A. Mallyon on STATESVILLE. LEMON DUCHESS – Slow into stride. MISHANI QUEEN - Slow into stride. Raced 3 wide early with cover. SOUL DANCER – Began awkwardly. SPOTTED WONDER – Began awkwardly. OLD KENT ROAD – Raced 3 wide throughout. Race 2: TAB Maiden Handicap – 1650m Trainer C Munce was fined $100 pursuant to LR67 for the late declaration of Jockey R. Wiggins on TORRIENTE. MORGAUSE – Trainer B. Robinson advised that it would be the preferred intention to ride the mare in the second half of the field, circumstances permitting. Raced in a midfield position with cover. ROYAL GEORGE – Bumped shortly after jumping. Crowded over the final 50m which prevented its rider from fully testing the gelding. OUTBACK GLADIATOR – Bumped shortly after jumping. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. DACKARNA – Leaving the home straight, commenced to over-race and raced ungenerously for a short distance. ZAMZARA – Raced keenly rounding the first turn. Momentarily held up for clear running near the 600m when TYRIAN commenced to weaken. BETTER BROTHER – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. THE GOOD THE BAD – When attempting to improve approaching the home turn, was disappointed for a run between BETTER BROTHER and JIMMY NEUTRON and was obliged to steady. When asked to comment on the performance, App. J. Murphy stated that the mare travelled fairly for the majority of the event and when asked to improve after passing the 600m, failed to respond to his riding. He further added that although he was disappointed for a run passing the 400m and then had some difficulty securing clear running, when able to find clear running, the mare again failed to finish the race off as expected and in his opinion proved disappointing. SAN BERNARDINO – Hung in approaching the line obliging its rider to momentarily stop riding. Race 3: AQUIS Class 3 Handicap – 1650m PRINCELY SUM – Bumped on jumping and then after passing the winning post on the first occasion, commenced to over-race and raced ungenerously to a point passing the 1100m. RAINS APLENTY – Held up approaching the home turn. EL TENIENTE – When asked to comment regarding the geldings performance, App. C. Bayliss stated that his intention was to be in a midfield position, however, after only beginning moderately and settling at the rear of the field, the gelding never travelled at any stage and when placed under pressure after passing the 700m, failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. The track was upgraded to a Soft 6 after the running of this event. Race 4: TAB Class 5 Handicap – 1050m Trainer J. Smerdon was fined $100 pursuant to LR67 for the late declaration of Jockey N. Day on AIRINO. LUCKY FIX – Held up approaching the home turn. Jockey R. Wiggins was reminded of his obligations in relation to the whip rule. SPLASHETTE – Inclined to lay out approaching the home turn when placed under pressure by its rider. Race 5: AQUIS F&M Benchmark 55 Handicap – 1100m PADDLES – Fractious in the barriers and slow to begin. Then bumped and blundered for a stride. Inclined to over-race in the early stages. Passing the 600m obliged to steady from the heels of SPLASH OF CRISTAL when racing ungenerously and shifted out. Shortly thereafter, blundered for a stride. BLUE WONDER – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Tightened between runners when SAILOR GERRI hung in on the home turn. Jockey L. Tilley reported that his mount was inclined to hang throughout and event and over the final 100m wanted to lay in despite his efforts which prevented him from fully testing his mount to the line. Trainer G. Hutchesson advised stewards that after considering the mares performance today, it would be retired from his stable. KATARINA – Bumped and forced inwards on jumping. SHADWELL FLYER – Bumped on jumping. Near the 150m when improving along the rails, obliged to shift wider when THATS MADNESS moved inwards. SAILOR GERRI – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Hung in rounding the home turn. SPLASH OF CRISTAL – Passing the 600m when the pace steadied, over-raced for a short distance and was steadied from the heels of BLUE WONDER. Approaching the 100m, steadied when awkwardly placed between SAILOR GERRI and MIRACLE STAR which shifted in abruptly. MIRACLE STAR – Hung in noticeably in the home straight despite the efforts of its rider. Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. A post-race veterinary examination determined that the mare had a poor post-race recovery and had shifted its near hind plate. No other apparent abnormalities. Race 6: TAB F&M Benchmark 55 Handicap – 1100m VAINITY – Began moderately before mustering early speed and racing in a forward position. Shifted in near the 300m making contact with the rail. When asked to comment on the mares below market performance, Jockey J. Taylor stated that in his opinion the mare failed to handle todays track conditions. HEART OF AUSTRALIA – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. Near the 700m steadied when momentarily tightened between TIMELY BEL and GLENBAWNS DUTCHESS which hung in. AMERICAN CROWN – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. When questioned regarding the mares performance, Jockey J Oliver explained that at its 2 most recent starts when he was the rider, the mare raced in blinkers and settled further back than they would have liked. Trainer M. Nolan removed the blinkers for todays event hoping that would allow the mare to race in a more forward position, however, despite his urgings the mare failed to muster early speed and settled towards the rear of the field. The mare finished the race off well today similar to that of its most recent start and in his opinion may be looking for distances further than that of todays event. GLENBAWNS DUTCHESS – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. MOZARTS MUSE – Approaching the home turn when racing in a rearward position, was obliged to steady when tightened between ELYSIA and AMERICAN CROWN which shifted in. ELYSIA – Rounding the home turn was obliged to steady when awkwardly placed at the heels of INSTANTANEOUS. INSTANTANEOUS – Near the 300m was obliged to steady when held up at the heels of the tiring VAINITY. Race 7: AQUIS C,G&E Benchmark 55 Handicap – 1100m AJANI – Slow into stride and then tightened between WILLS BID and MAGIC SCENT on jumping and lost ground. MAGIC SCENT – Bumped on the hindquarters when the start was effected and turned inwards. WILLS BID – Ridden hard in the early and middle stages in order to hold a forward position. THE FLYING SCOT – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. BRIS VEGAS – Steadied for a stride when awkwardly placed at the heels of MAGIC SCENT near the 500m. Inside the final 30m was obliged to steady after improving onto the heels of ACCUMULATED. Race 8: TAB C,G&E Benchmark 55 Handicap – 1100m OUR BOY BEN – Blundered on jumping. Raced keenly between runners approaching the 600m and was steadied. OUT FOR JUSTICE – Slow into stride. CHOCOLATE OREO – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Ridden hard in an attempt to race in a forward position, however, passing the 900m was crossed by multiple runners and forced to settle in a rearward position. Held up approaching the home turn before shifting back to the inside to secure clear running near the 200m. Steadied near the line when it shifted out under pressure. FAKE TAN – Bumped on jumping. Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. PICK OF THE PUBS – Raced 4 wide without cover throughout. VERTICAL – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. WHITEBAIT PATTIE – Lost its off fore plate in running. Race 9: AQUIS C,G&E Benchmark 55 Handicap – 1400m Trainer M. Boland was fined $100 pursuant to LR68 in that he failed to scratch BUZZER BEATER by the prescribed time. HEZA GOOD BOY – Stable representative advised that it would be their preferred option to settle midfield, circumstances permitting. Ridden accordingly. MISTER MAGNETIC – Began awkwardly. Brushed the rail near the 900m. Held up rounding the home turn and shortly thereafter when looking for clear running was disappointed between LITTLE HUNTER and TYRES ARE CRUCIAL when inclined to lay in. Near the 50m momentarily steadied when racing greenly in restricted room. RED BALTER – Slow into stride. Trainer A. Williamson advised Stewards that in light of todays disappointing performance, it was his intention to retire the gelding from racing. CMOME PADDYREILLY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. SURGICAL – Hampered between runners on jumping and steadied. CHARLIE CAT – Reared slightly as the start was effected and lost ground. Brushed the rail near the 900m. Rounding the home turn improved onto the heels of the tiring CMOME PADDYREILLY and had to be steadied by its rider. SLY GRIN – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Race 10: TAB F&M Benchmark 55 Handicap – 1400m LOVE PUZZLE underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers after it made contact with a panel of fencing leaving the parade area. On examination the mare was cleared to start. MADAM MAHAL – Began moderately. Passing the 200m, improved onto the heels of QUEEN OF THE NIGHT which laid in marginally and was obliged to steady. Approaching the 100m when racing ungenerously, was disappointed for a run between QUEEN OF THE NIGHT and SPEAKING BETTER. NO MORE ROSES – Began moderately. Performed poorly and underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer B. Robinson advised that it would now be his intention to send the mare for a spell. MISS HOW LONG – Began moderately. When over-racing near the 1000m, improved onto heels and was obliged to steady. Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. When asked to comment on the fillys performance, Jockey J. Oliver said that he was disappointed and felt that it may have come to the end of its preparation. Performed below market expectation and underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. LOVE PUZZLE – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. SECRET CONQUEST – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. IMAPOET– Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. ARC OF GOLD - Had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 500m and 300m.
