Morton Race 1: BIRDSVILLE HOTEL BM 50 HANDICAP - 1200 metres CONSENTED – Travelled wide in the middle and late stages. TRAIL BUSTER – Travelled wide for the majority. VALPONS – Slow into stride and travelled wide. Race 2: LINDSAY FAMILY RATINGS BAND 0 – 60 HANDICAP - 1000 metres LEO’S SPIRIT – Slow to begin and travelled wide. WISCONSIN – Approaching the 800m galloped onto heels and was checked and lost ground. NO OTHER WAY – Jockey D. Rewald was fined $400 for his use of the whip prior to the 100 metres. NORTHERN MYTH – Travelled wide for much of the race. Race 3: MCINNES WILSON QTIS MAIDEN PLATE - 1000 metres J. Brand was the rider of MISTRESS OF MONEY, A. Ross the rider of EVERYONELOVESHARRY and D. Rewald the rider of THE GREYMOUTH GIRL. Stewards accepted the explanation of these late jockey declarations. EVERYONELOVESHARRY – Travelled wide for the majority. THE GREYMOUTH GIRL – Slow into stride. Race 4: OAKEY BEEF OPEN HANDICAP - 1000 metres CAMBOOYA ROCK – A late scratching at 3:48pm as the gelding was unable to be loaded. Deductions were given with correct weight as 23 cents in the dollar value of win bets and 23 cents in the dollar value of place bets. Trainer J Ferguson was advised that CAMBOOYA ROCK will have to undergo a barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again. BENCHI PEGASUS – Slow into stride. REGAL CONSERVE – Travelled wide for much of the race. NUDE SECRETS – Raced ungenerously. Jockey M. Palmer stated the horse jumped well and travelled but when the pace quickened he could not go with them. RACE 5: THE BETOOTA ADVOCATE BETOOTA CUP OPEN HANDICAP – 1600 metres SAMMY SPARROW – Slow to begin. DUTCH COURAGE – Slow into stride and travelled wide for the majority and hung out rounding the home turn. HUSONIQUE – Travelled wide in the middle and late stages. Race 6: BROOK PASTORAL/LANDMARK/PE&GC HARRIS ROAD CONTRACTOR CLASS B HANDICAP - 800 metres CHARLES – Jockey N. Morton hit the gates with her knee on jumping and was treated by ambulance officers for bruising after the race. LARGER – Slow to begin and eased off heels shortly before the 100m when the gelding started to hang. LOOK ABOUT – Slow into stride and travelled wide for the majority.
