Prior to Race 1 the track was downgraded to a Soft 5.
 
Stewards permitted the following overweights:
Race 4 – J. Felix +3.5kg
Race 4 – T. Chambers +0.5kg
 
Due to no available rider, Race 4. No 9 TORQUE SENSATION was declared a late scratching at 12:00pm.
 
Race 1: PILCHERS CONCRETE QTIS BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1000m
 
ACOUSTIX – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore fetlock. Trainer J. Campeao was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to ACOUSTIX next racing.
 
MAKE IT FLASHY – Slow to begin. Hung in over the concluding stages.
 
SO ODELIA – Bumped with MISHANI AVIATOR on jumping. Raced wide throughout. When questioned on the performance, apprentice jockey I. Teh stated that being first up from an extended spell as well as racing wide under a heavy weight may have contributed to the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
TACTICAL ILLUSION – Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
MISHANI AVIATOR – Bumped with SO ODELIA on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
 
OUR HEART THROB – Slow to begin.
 
GROVERS PREDICTION – Slow to begin.
 
FAV’S FLYER – Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
 
 
Race 2: HAPPY 60TH BIRTHDAY JUDY BROWN QTIS BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1000m
 
HEISWOODY – Reared as the start was affected. Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay in over the concluding stages.
 
MARTINI MOMENT – Shifted in on jumping hampering SWITCH AND SLIDE. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
HEROIC EAGLE – Reared as the start was affected.
 
SWITCH AND SLIDE – Hampered on jumping by MARTINI MOMENT. Over-raced for most of the event.
 
PARA PARK CHANCE – Lost considerable ground as the start was affected.
 
JUST FRANK – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
MISS DAURIAN – Raced greenly over the concluding stages.
 
Correct weight was delayed allowing jockey N. Thomas and stable representative L. Sewell to review the patrol footage of the start to ascertain whether PARA PARK CHANCE was afforded a fair start. After considering all evidence, stewards declared the gelding a starter and correct weight was declared on the judges’ semaphored numbers.
 
Race 3: FILBY’S MOTORS Maiden Plate 1000m
 
CIVIL WAR – Contacted the side of the barriers on jumping.
 
TSUNAMI FORCE – Hampered on jumping by QUEENBEEL (NZ) and MISS JABALI who both shifted ground at the start. Raced in restricted room passing the 700m because of KUROMI SAMA racing ungenerously at that point.
 
MY COUNTY – Slow into stride.Raced wide throughout. When struck with the whip passing the 200m, shifted in across the heels of MISS JABALI.
 
KUROMI SAMA – Reared at the start. Approaching the 700 metres, raced ungenerously, and shifted out resulting in QUEENBEEL (NZ) having to be steadied, which then became momentarily unbalanced and shifted inwards hampering TSUNAMI FORCE.
 
QUEENBEEL (NZ) – Shifted out at the start hampering TSUNAMI FORCE. Had to be steadied when KUROMI SAMA shifted out passing the 700m.
 
CARVETI – Shifted out under pressure rounding the home turn and raced very greenly thereafter.
 
MISS JABALI – Shifted in at the start hampering TSUNAMI FORCE. Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 4: ARABON SEAFOODS 2024 BATTLE OF THE BUSH QUALIFIER OPEN Handicap 1200m
 
Stewards enquired into the circumstances around jockey C. McIver being dually engaged in Race 4. After considering all evidence, jockey McIver was reprimanded pursuant to AR 127(1) and noted his good record in relation to this rule.
 
WISE DRAGON – Raced wide throughout.
 
SUCH A WHIT – Slow into stride.
 
FANAAR (NZ) – Slow into stride. Shifted in and contacted the running rail passing the 1000m and raced ungenerously thereafter throughout the event.
 
THATFEELSBETTER – Began very awkwardly. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
BAYERISCHE – Hampered at the 650m when KINJINA blundered and lost ground.
 
TORQUE SENSATION – Was declared a late scratching due to no available rider at 12:00pm.
 
KINJINA – Stewards permitted jockey J. Felix to ride KINJINA +3.5kg over the allotted weight due to no other rider bring available. Blundered at the 650m when SENSATIONABULL shifted in when not clear. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
AIDENABET – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
SENSATIONABULL – Approaching the 650m, shifted in when not clear of KINJINA, resulting in that runner blundering and having to be checked. Apprentice Jockey I. Teh, the rider of SENSATIONABULL, pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 131(a) in that she shifted in when not sufficiently clear of KINJINA which blundered and lost ground as a result. Jockey I. Teh’s licence was suspended for a period of 13 days from the close of racing on Saturday the 8th of June up to and including racing on Friday the 21st of June 2024.
 
Race 5: BIH Class B Handicap 1280m
 
ULTIMATE – Slow into stride.
 
RUPERT’S BOY – Shifted out at the start. Raced wide throughout.
 
PRIDEOFTHEBIGFISH – Was declared a late scratching at 3:48pm after refusing to load. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on PRIDEOFTHEBIGFISH be refunded with the following deductions to apply-   
 
1st CHILLI PALMER 31c win, 21c place.
2nd HUNT THE HUNTER 21c place
3rd ULTIMATE 21c place
 
Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that PRIDEOFTHEBIGFISH would be required to obtain a barrier certificate prior to next racing.
 
 
Race 6: HILLARY GROUP WHITSUNDAY CUP BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1810m
 
FORTIFIED (NZ) – Began awkwardly then crowded by MEDAL (NZ) which shifted in.
 
CIAO BICKY – Raced three wide throughout.
 
MEDAL (NZ) – Shifted out at the start crowding FORTIFIED (NZ). When questioned on the disappointing performance, jockey G. Kliese stated that MEDAL NZ raced wide in the middle stages and was unable to improve behind CIAO BICKY which started to lose ground at the 600m, however his mount then failed to let down over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
 
MISHANI PATRIOT – Raced wide in the early stages.
