Barker, B.V.Sc.Starter – Mr R KingPhoto Finish Operator- ClubSUPPLEMENTARY REPORTStewards spoke with Trainer Mr W. Baker regarding the late declaration of a rider by the prescribed time for his horse Miss Bonnie which was racing in Race 1 at today’s program. Stewards accepted Mr Baker’s explanation and took no further action regarding this matter.Trainer Mr R Sullivan was reprimanded by Stewards under LR-67 for his late declaration of a rider by the prescribed time for his horse Highway Child which was racing in Race 3 at today’s program. Stewards accepted Mr Sullivan’s explanation and took into consideration Mr Sullivan’s excellent record when considering a penalty for this offence.Trainer Mr C. Prow advised Stewards prior to the running of Race 1 his horse IM A CLANGER was injured when being loaded for today’s meeting. The horse was declared a late scratching at 12.25pm. Stewards will advise Mr Prow that a Veterinary Certificate would be required prior to the horse running again.The Track was upgraded by Stewards to a Good (4) prior to the running of Race 3 at todays’ program.Race 1: DUNNE’S MEATS CLASS B HANDICAP 800MRUN LOLLY RUN- (J.King) - dipped at the start and lost ground. The Mare travelled wide during the middle stages of the event.NAYTELLRHI WORLD- (D.Rewald) - made contact with the barriers when jumping.FLORIDA ROAD (Appr. Ms N. Morton) - raced wide over the final stages of the event.The start of Race 2 was delayed due to the Clerk of the Course’s horse breaking down when returning to the mounting yard after the event.Race 2 was further delayed when Stewards were advised by Clerk of the Scales Ms W. Moody that Apprentice Jockey S. Alam was unable to claim his full allowance on DENMAN DANE in Race 3. Stewards spoke with Trainer Mr R. Connolly and Stewards acted under AR 92 (12) and stood down Apprentice Jockey Alam and subsequently replaced him with Apprentice Jockey G. Leung. Apprentice Alam was reprimanded by Stewards and reminded of his obligation to ensure he claimed his full allowance at future meetings.Prior to Race 2 Apprentice Jockey Ms J. Brand advised Stewards she was unable to claim her full allowance in Race 2 on DESTINED FOR WAR and in Race 4 on STAR SYSTEM. Stewards spoke with Trainer Mr W, Baker who trained both horses and he stated that he was happy for Ms Brand to ride his horses. Stewards considered the submission by Mr Baker and Ms Brand. Stewards reprimanded Ms Brand under AR 92 (12) and advised her of her obligations to ensure she claims her full allowance in the future.Race 2: BOOKMAKERS CLASS 3 PLATE 1000MCOOL HERO- (C. Bryen) - dipped badly at the start and then raced disappointingly from that point. The gelding was examined by the attending Veterinarian post- race with no abnormalities being detected.SCINTILLER- (J. Babarovich) - jumped in and made contact with another runner. The Mare travelled wide over the final stages of the event.WAYS AND MEANS- (S. Egan) - was slow to begin and was bumped by another runner after the start.DENMAN DAME- (Appr. G. Leung) - after missing the start the filly lost substantial ground and failed to improve.After the running of Race 2 the track was upgraded to a Good 4 for the remainder of the program.Race 3: WESTERN RURAL CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200MThe rider of FINAL RUN- (J. Babarovich) was fined $200 by Stewards for using the whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100 metre point.CAST OUT- (J. King) - shifted out under pressure over the final stages.THE CHARMED ONE- (C. Bryen) - was slow to begin, then was bumped by another runner. This resulted in the rider having to take hold and losing some ground.HIGHWAY CHILD-(D. Brown) - travelled wide throughout the event.MIRFAK- (Appr. Ms N. Morton) - jumped in and made contact with another runner after the start.WARRIOR OF PEACE- (J. Rudd) - travelled wide over the final stages.Race 4: PRESIDENTS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200MPrior to the running of this event Trainer Mr B. Johnson sought permission from Stewards to allow his runner MONTANUS to run without Boots and use bandages as part of his gear at today’s meeting. Stewards accepted Mr Johnson’s explanation and permitted this gear change for todays ‘meeting. LOUPPY BEND- (Appr. S. Alam) - jumped out and made contact with another runner.WIGPOOL- (J.Babarovich) - was bumped by another runner shortly after the start.LA CLOISONNE- (Appr. Ms N. Morton) - was bumped by another runner shortly after the start, as a result the Mare became unbalanced and then bumped another runner.STAR SYSTEM- (Appr. Ms J. Brand) - began awkwardly and lost ground. The horse travelled wide over the final stages of the event.Stewards spoke with the Trainer of STAR SYSTEM Mr W. Baker in relation to the Mare’s performance and it’s racing manners at today’s meeting. Mr Baker advised Stewards the Mare would be retired immediately. Stewards would require STAR SYSTEM to undergo an official barrier trial prior to starting in any race in the future.RACE 5: DICK LEEDS BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1400MPrior to the running of this event Trainer Mr J. Patterson advised Stewards he had removed the blinkers from his horse WASHER for today’s meeting. The documentation provided by Mr Paterson stated this change was made at 2.35pm on the 14th day of April 2016 which was after final acceptances. Stewards considered Mr Paterson’s explanation and excellent training record and subsequently issued Mr Paterson with a reprimand under AR 140 (b) (2) in relation to this matter.SIR CLISBY- (S. Egan) - jumped in at the start.SKY DISK- (Appr. G. Leung) - travelled wide during the middle stages of the event.WASHER- (Appr. Ms N. Morton) - knuckled at the start and lost ground.DIAMOND RUSH- (J. King) - had to ease off the heels of another runner approaching the 1300 metre point of this event.CURLEY GREY- (Appr. S. Alam) - began awkwardly.KEEP THE CURRENCY- (J.Rudd) - dwelt at the start. Approaching the 1300 metre point the rider began to cross another runner resulting in the rider of DIAMOND RUSH having to ease off its heels.
