QUEENDLND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT CENTRAL WARREGO RACE CLUB – 23 OCTOBER 2016 WEATHER – FINE TRACK – SOFT (SAND) RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALSChairman of Stewards: G. DimseyStewards: B. BarkerClerk of Scales: ClubBetting Supervisor: Stewards GENERAL Stewards conducted a track inspection at 7:00am on Saturday 22/10/16 and deemed the track suitable for racing. After receiving a further 6mm of rain, Stewards conducted a further track inspection at 9:00am on Saturday 22/10/16 and found the track to be unsafe due to surface water. After consultation with the Central Warrego Race Club and Racing Queensland, Stewards postponed the meeting until Sunday 23/10/16, with the following changes to race times: R1 – 12.30pm, R2 – 1.00pm, R3 – 1.30pm, R4 – 2.00pm, R5 – 2.30pm The following runners were scratched due the postponement:R1 – THAT’S CORRECTR2 – COOLBIE, SNAKE ATTACKR3 – FERRIGNOR4 – REPO ZESTR5 – GIRLS SAY Jockey C. Bryen was unable to attend the meeting due to the postponement and replacements were made as per the raceday summary. Stewards conducted a track inspection at 6.00am on Sunday 23/10/16 and were satisfied the track was safe for racing. RACE 1: BOOKMAKER’S MAIDEN PLATE – 1100M1ST – MONTE VICTORY 2ND – ELLIE’S JOY 3RD – PACIFIC PUZZLE 4TH – THAT’S HER I THINK PACFIC PUZZLE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. AMLECK – Blundered at the start. Raced wide throughout. ELLIE’S JOY – Steadied near the 900m when crossed by MONTE VICTORY (App. L. Tilley). Apprentice Tilley was reminded of his obligations to be two lengths clear when shifting ground. RACE 2: TONY FACEY MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 60 H’CAP – 1000M1ST – GOLD BONANZA 2ND – NOOR DROPPER 3RD – TONGUE OF FIRE 4TH – BRITISH BULLDOG POLAR BLITZ – Slow to begin. Stewards questioned Apprentice N. Morton regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding, in particular her decision to shift wider on the track near the 600m. Apprentice Morton advised Stewards that the instructions had been to stay near the rail, however POLAR BLITZ raced keenly in the middle stages and she was forced to shift wider to avoid clipping heels. Stewards noted the explanation. BRITISH BULLDOG – Raced wide throughout. Jockey J. Rudd reported the saddle shifted back on jumping away, placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder or the event. RACE 3: PRESIDENT’S BENCHMARK 50 H’CAP – 1400M1ST – LITTLE JATZ 2ND – ONE LUCKY SHEILA 3RD – MONSIEUR HUGHES 4TH – EMMAROSE The start of this race was delayed when CAPITAL TYCOON was fractious leaving the mounting yard and dislodged the bridle. CAPITAL TYCOON was recaptured, the bridle replaced, and cleared to start by the veterinary surgeon. WARRIOR OF PEACE – Steadied and lost ground near the 800m when tightened for room between EMMAROSE (App. S. Palmer) and MONSIEUR HUGHES (B. Powell), which shifted out when being steadied from heels. PARANA – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. MONSIEUR HUGHES – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. EMMAROSE – Trainer’s representative M. Graham reported following the race that she felt the tongue tie had been applied too tightly, causing the mare to be reluctant to stretch out fully in the home straight. RACE 4: ROSS IVERSON MEMORIAL OPEN H’CAP – 1400M1ST – THE YOWIE 2ND – BELLE EXPRESS 3RD – WILD GODSON 4TH – KHAPTIVATA KHAPTIVATA – Raced keenly in the early stages. REGAL PRINCE – Raced wide throughout. Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. CHOIRS – Apprentice S. Palmer was reminded of his obligation to weigh in for 5th place. RACE 5: HAPPY BIRTHDAY NICKY MCKELLAR QTIS CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M1ST – MISS DELIMA 2ND – ZAHA COUNTY 3RD – SARGOOD LANE 4TH – SHYCODA The start of this race was delayed when ZAHA COUNTY (App. B. Nothdurft) dislodged its rider on the way to the barriers and cantered riderless for a short distance before being recaptured. Apprentice B. Nothdurft was uninjured. ZAHA COUNTY was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field. SARGOOD LANE – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped another runner. SHYCODA – Bumped by another runner at the start, tightened for room and lost ground. SPURTING COLOURS – Slow to begin.
