STEWARDS REPORT CLERMONT RACE CLUB – SATURDAY, 1st OCTOBER, 2016 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – DIRT (GOOD) OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – Mr. L CollinsStewards: Mr G WustClerk of Scales- StewardsJudge – B. Dennis & D. HendersonVeterinarian – A. GuilfoyleStarter- G. Scharf Race 1: Belyando Produce QTIS Maiden Plate- 1000 metres MORANO BELL- Declared a late scratching at 8.15am when unable to be loaded on the float. DORA’S MAGIC- Slow to begin. Race 2: Clermont Haulage Class B Handicap- 1000 metres BROOKLYN BOY- When Jockey B Bell was not properly engaged, Jockey R Achini was the replacement rider. MOZZINATOR- Explanation for late declaration of rider accepted. SPURTING COLOURS- App J Brand’s reason for failing to claim only 1kg of the claim was accepted. No racing incidents Race 3: Viv Wood Memorial Class 3 Plate- 1200 metres MAXWELLS CREEK- Trainer W. Baker’s reasons for late declaration of rider was accepted. Mr Baker was reminded to ensure he engages riders correctly and at the appropriate time in the future. Slow to begin. OUR LUCKY SHEILA- Declared a late scratching at 8.12am when it had injured itself in the float en route to the race course. MONSIEUR HUGHES- Slow to begin. LOCHLEE- Slow to begin. Approaching the 1000 metres, SISTER WHISKEY (S. McCullum) allowed his mount to shift in and made contact with BOSSY BEACH (App. Z White) which made contact with EXSTRATUM (App D Graham) which become unbalanced. Stewards were mindful that Jockey McCullum had straightened his mount and issued a reprimand against him for careless riding. ENEMY OF MAN- Jockey B. Bell was reprimanded for use of his whip on two more occasions that permitted and consecutively. Stewards considered this was the first breach of the Rule for Jockey Bell. Race 4: Tony Kenny Memorial Clermont Cup Open Handicap- 1200 metres MISHANI STEALTH- App Z White was reprimanded for negligence in failing to weigh with irons LANSDOWNE ROAD- Began awkwardly. Stewards were advised that the gelding may be retired or transfer stables. SMART PARTOL- Raced three wide throughout. CRAWFISH- Raced wide without cover throughout. Race 5: Isaac Regional Council BM 50 Handicap- 1400 metres Delay to the start of the race when all runners were loaded. TAYSTAR broke through the front, was quickly restrained and returned behind the barriers. Stewards were advised that there was a mechanical issue with the barrier which had caused the delay. All runners were unloaded while the issue was rectified and barriers tested. PARANA- Slow to begin and resented the dust when racing back in the field. ROYAL COUPE- Raced back in the field and from near the 600 metres yielded ground. Rider reported the gelding resented the dust kickback. WONDERFUL WALLY- Slow to begin.
