GENERAL
As jockey N. Yadi was not riding at todays meeting due to illness he was replaced as per steward’s summary. N. Yadi was advised he must provide a medical clearance prior to his next race ride.   
 
Race 1: POISON CREEK STATION/MUSGRAVE ROAD HOUSE QTIS
MAIDEN PLATE – 1000 Metres
 
BIT OF FUN – Slow to begin.Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
KINGMATE – Slow to begin.
 
HEARTSAREROMAN – Began awkwardly. Laid in and away from RACATOON near the
800 metres crowding EYE OF RA.   
 
EYE OF RA – Momentarily steadied near the 800 metres when crowded for room.
 
Race 2: AUSWASTE & CAPE YORK WEEKLY'S  CLASS B HANDICAP – 1000 Metres
 
YABULU PRINCESS – Slow to begin. Rider lost the use of his near side iron soon after the start, causing jockey K. Hocking to become unbalanced and be dislodged near the 700 metres. After being examined by the QAS, jockey K. Hocking was cleared of any injury and was cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.      
 
Race 3: COOKTOWN RSL MEMORIAL CLUB/COOKTOWN HARDWARE BENCHMARK
45 HANDICAP – 1290 Metres

MILKY ROCKET – Improved onto heels a short distance after the start and blundered when racing ungenerously.  
 
PURPLE HAT – Put in an awkward stride near the 300 metres.
Race 4: YARRALINDA PARK'S BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 1290 Metres
 
LUSHAN – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
MACIPENKO (GB) – Rider L. Morrison dismounted from the gelding on pulling up when of the opinion something may have been amiss with its action. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.       
 
Race 5: COOK SHIRE COUNCIL'S CLIVE GORDON MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 55
HANDICAP – 1400 Metres
 
HUNUA HANK (NZ) – Raced in restricted room near the 1200 metres and was restrained.
 
ROCKET ONA MISSION – Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer J. Manzelmann advised that on today’s performance the filly’s immediate racing future will be reviewed. Nonetheless a warning was placed on its competitiveness.    

Race 6: COOKTOWN BOWLS CLUB COUNTRY CUPS CHALLENGE
QUALIFIER/COOKTOWN CUP OPEN HANDICAP – 1760 Metres
 
WHITTERICK – Trainer J. Ryan advised stewards instructions would be issued to ride the
gelding in a forward manner with a step up in distance for today’s event. Was ridden
accordingly.  
 
LORD OF LIGHT – Shifted in at the start bumping THE DRILLER. Over-raced in the early stages.  
 
THE DRILLER – Bumped at the start and shifted in bumping LETS TORQUE A DEEL. Forced wider approaching the 800 metres and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
LETS TORQUE A DEEL – Bumped on jumping and lost ground. Forced wider approaching the 800 metres and raced wide from that point onwards.
