On returning to scale Jockey G Watson rider of third place getter CLOUT made application to view the patrol footage of the concluding stages and subsequently elected to lodge an objection against first place getter DEIGO BAY (S Pawsey) alleging interference approaching the winning post. After hearing the submissions from connections and viewing all available footage Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that any ground lost by CLOUT in the incident was in excess of the 1L margin which separated the two horses at the finish and declared correct weight on the judges numbers.

DEIGO BAY – Shifted in under pressure near the 200m, making contact with another runner. Jockey S. Pawsey pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a), in that near the 100m he permitted his mount to shift in under hard riding, tightening the running of YALANJI, which had to be checked. After momentarily straightening, jockey Pawsey then permitted his mount to again shift in under hard riding, whilst improving to the outside of CLOUT, taking that gelding’s running, resulting in CLOUT having to be severely checked. Jockey S. Pawsey’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 12 days, to commence at midnight, 23 November and to expire at midnight 5 December. In assessing penalty, stewards took into account jockey Pawsey’s recent good riding record in relation to the rule, his guilty plea, conduct during the inquiry and the degree of interference, which was considered to be in the mid-range.
