Neal, S. Copelin, A. Holzhauser (Cadet), P. Lane (Asst) GENERAL Permitted Overweight: R1: L. Morrison + 1kgR4: J. Huxtable + 0.5kgR6: R. Wiggins + 1.0kgR7: C. Whiteley + 0.5kg R7: S. Sheargold + 0.5kg The following runner which had not raced for an extended period underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.MACEDON FLYER. Race 1: BABINDA ELECTRICS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1250 M SOGOYA – Delayed the start when proving difficult to load. Reared as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Trainer G. Holt was advised that the gelding must perform to the satisfaction of the stewards in two consecutive trials prior to it being permitted to race again. MISHANI DESTINY – Raced wide for the majority of the race without cover. Shifted ground in the home straight when placed under pressure resulting in jockey S Cormack changing whip hands near the 100 metres. MR GRUMBLER – Laid out rounding the home turn. Race 2: AVMIN AIR CHARTER SPECIALIST BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1900 M MISHANI MENACE – Stewards accepted the explanation of trainer S. Cooper for the late declaration of rider. Bumped on jumping. CHOIR BOY – Shifted out at the start hampering runners to its outside. PICCAPEPPA – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide in the early stages. MA MA'S ROSE – Inconvenienced on jumping. VANCOUVER BAY – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Race 3:NORWELD MAIDEN PLATE 1500 M MISS FARSTAR – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers and was cleared to start. Began very awkwardly and lost considerable ground. Trainer G. Kinlyside was advised a warning will be placed on the mare’s barrier manners.BLEDISLOE (NZ) – When asked to explain its performance today jockey R Wiggins advised stewards the horse was placed under pressure rounding the home turn after racing in a forward position however failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. Trainer S. Massingham advised stewards it is his intentions the horse will be sent for a spell following today’s run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 4:KENFROST HOMES CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1500 MKIDSTON – Began awkwardly. Over raced early. MOEGREEN (NZ) – Over raced in the early and middle stages and as a result was obliged to race wide throughout. PELSAERT (NZ) – At a post-race inquiry jockey N. Thomas pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 131(a) in that he permitted PELSAERT to shift out under riding when not fully clear of GOING NUCLEAR which had to be checked near the 150 metres. Mr. Thomas license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence midnight 17/09/2024 up to and including 24/09/2024. GOING NUCLEAR – Lost its off-hind plate during running. SHADOW ECLIPSE – A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding identified the presence of blood in both nostrils. SHADOW ECLIPSE shall not without the permission of the Stewards: (a) for a period of 2 months after the attack of bleeding, be trained, exercised or galloped on a racecourse, recognized training track, private training establishment, or other place; (b) must not start in any race for a period of 3 months, and then only after: i. a gallop of at least 1,000 metres; or ii. an official trial or jump-out; in the presence, and to the satisfaction of a Steward.AR79(4) Race 5: CENTURY CRANES CLASS 6 PLATE 950 M MACEDON FLYER – Was declared a late scratching at 3.49pm by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice when found to be lame on the near front fetlock. Trainer N. Nelson was advised she mustprovide a full veterinary clearance prior to the gelding’s next race start or trial. Trainer N. Nelson told stewards it will be her intention to retire the gelding from racing. All monies invested on MACEDON FLYER were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 4.49pm: 0 cents in the dollar for the win ALL TIME LEGEND0 cents in the dollar for the place of winner ALL TIME LEGEND1 cent in the dollar for 2nd place BOOGIE WONDERAND1 cent in the dollar for 3rd place NEVETON BOOGIE WONDERLAND – Slow to begin. VIBURNUM – Slow to begin. Forced wider near the 100 metres. PRINCIPESSA (NZ) – Slow to begin. THATFEELSBETTER – Raced wide without cover for the majority. ALL TIME LEGEND – Shifted out under pressure leaving the 150 metres. RED BOOMSHAKALAKA – Shifted out near the 100 metres causing VIBURNUM to shift wider. Race 6:LADBROKES CAIRNS AMATEUR SPRINT 1400 M FOR VALOUR – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. When asked for a comment on the gelding’s performance today rider S. Sheargold reported it failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. Trainer L. Gough advised it would be his attention that the horse will be sent for an immediate spell. A post-race veterinary examination found no abnormalities. CONSTANT FLIGHT – Threw its head in the air when being restrained near the 1000 metres in order to obtain a closer position to the rail. PRIME RULER – Steadied leaving the 1000 metres when racing in restricted room. BRILLIANT MIND – Over raced in the middle stages. Raced three wide without cover for the majority. GULF OF LION – Over raced in the middle stages. MONTENEGRO MAN – Raced wide for the majority. TURBEAU – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 200 metres. Race 7: GREAT NORTHERN BREWING CO. CAIRNS AMATEUR CUP 2100 M SAYL (GB) – Due to jockey C. Bayliss being unable to make the allotted weight of 54kgs he was replaced by jockey J. Pracey-Holmes. CASHIN' CHEX (NZ) – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. MAHAGONI (GB) –Slow to begin. Held up for clear running from the 600 metres until near the 200 metres and was tightened for room near the 350 metres. FIFTH POSITION (IRE) – Over raced in the early and middle stages. THIRD REALM (GB) – Raced wide for the majority. GALIFIANAKIS (IRE) – Raced wide for the majority. Lost its near side hind plate during running. ARMOUR FORCE – Shifted out near the 350 forcing MAHAGONI out. ANDALUS (NZ) – Checked near the 350 metres when tightened for room. – At a subsequent inquiry jockey N. Thomas pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 131(a) in that he permitted ARMOUR FORCE to shift out under riding when not fully clear of MAHAGONI which was outwards causing ANDALUS out across the heels of SAYL having to be checked near the 350 metres. Jockey Thomas’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11 days to commence midnight 17/09/2024 up to and including 28/09/2024 to be served concurrently with his suspension from Race 4. Inconvenienced near the 150 metres. MR MAESTRO (NZ) – Jockey R. Wiggins lost his whip near the 100 meters. Race 8: RED BERET HOTEL CLASS 3 PLATE 1250 M MEMPHIS SHADOW– Slow to begin. YELLOWSTONE BETH – Slow to begin. Lost its near hind plate during running. HARBOUR GOLD – Raced wide in the early stages. OVOID – Post race veterinary examination found the gelding to be lame in both front legs. Trainer T. Rowe was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance for OVOID prior to its next race start or trial. Stewards were advised by trainer T. Rowe that it is his intention that the horse be sent for a spell.
