WEATHER – FINE TRACK – GOOD (DIRT) RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALSChairman of Stewards – Mr B. Cooke Stewards – Mr A. Preston Veterinarian – Dr T. EckelStarter – Mr R. Jones Judge – Club Representatives Clerk of Scales – Q.R.I.C Stewards Swab Official – Dr T. Eckel General Following the running of race six, Stewards inquired into an incident that occurred between Mr T. Webb (the judge) and Mr L. Clifford (the clerk of the course) where both parties became involved in a verbal and physical altercation in the vicinity of the race day tie up stalls. After taking evidence from both parties stewards issued a charge of improper conduct against Mr Clifford under AR. 175(q) where following the running of race one, when acting in the capacity of an official namely the clerk of the course, improperly conducted himself when he proceeded to make physical contact with licensed trainer Mr T. Webb, resulting in Mr Webb making contact with the ground. Mr Clifford was subsequently fined $300. A further charge of improper conduct was issued against Mr T. Webb under AR.175(q) in that following the running of race one, when engaged in the capacity of an official namely the judge, did improperly conduct himself when his actions led to a verbal and physical altercation with Mr L. Clifford, the clerk of the course. Mr Webb was fined $100 Stewards inquired into a compliant put forward by Trainer B. Johnston in that he observed his apprentice A. Thompson using his whip in frustration on his mount IF BY CHANCE when returning to the mounting yard following the running of race six. After taking evidence from both parties, stewards fined Apprentice Thompson $200 under AR.137A(3) for his unnecessary use of the whip. RACE 1: COCA COLA AMATIL MAIDEN PLATE – 1000m ELEGANT MISS – Dipped shortly after the start. LENROY – Over raced approaching the 700m mark. Raced wide without cover throughout. Upon returning to scale jockey S. McGovern reported that in his opinion the gelding raced greenly throughout the event. SCHMIZO – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have lacerations on its hind legs. Trainer M. Johnstone was advised the horse would require a veterinary certificate prior to retuning to race. RACE 2: OIGLE COLEMAN & DIGGER HIGGINS MEMORIAL QTIS CLASS 2 PLATE – 1000m MULGA THUMPER – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout the early and middle stages. OTTO’S BROTHER – Raced wide throughout the middle stages. TOCCO D’ORO – Began awkwardly and lost ground. RACE 3: LANDMARK CUNNAMULLA BM70 HANDICAP – 1000m DUKE OF YORK – Slow to begin. NOT OTHER WAY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Race wide without cover over the concluding stages. IZZY COMMAND – Raced wide over the concluding stages. Apprentice N. Morton was fined $300 under AR.92(12) for failing to claim her full allowance. RACE 4: CUNNAMULLA NEWSAGENCY'S BM45 HANDICAP – 1200m The start time of the event was amended to 3:00pm The declaration of correct weight was delayed when the connections of the fourth place getter ZOE IS THE BEST lodged a protest against the third place getter WRITTEN GUARENTEE alleging interference over the concluding stages. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the available patrol footage, it was established that although WRITTEN GUARENTEE did shift out dictating the line of ZOE IS THE BEST, sole blame for the shift could not be contributed to the runner as its line was too being dictated by pressure from runners to its inside. On these grounds, Stewards dismissed the protest declaring correct weight on the judges semaphored placings. BENDIE BOY – Shifted out abruptly at the 100m and again at the 80m placing runners to the outside in restricted room. Jockey S. McGovern was reprimanded for careless riding under AR.137(a). ZOE IS THE BEST – Placed in restricted room over the concluding stages when runners to the inside shifted out. WRITTEN GUARENTEE – Forced to shift out when receiving pressure from a runner to the inside. HIDDEN CHIEF – Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously throughout. HUSSON’S SHOUT – Slow to begin VESELKA – Blundered at the start and lost ground. JABBS – Declared a late scratching at 8:40am due to no rider being available. RACE 5: CUNNAMULLA FRIENDLY GROCER'S CUNNAMULLA CUP OPEN HANDICAP – 1400m No Racing Incidents RACE 6: CUNNAMULLA DISTRICT DIGGERS RACE CLUB BM50 HANDICAP – 1400m The start of the event was delayed to remove emu’s and kangaroos from the inside and outside of the track. GRAVITY FORCE – Slow to begin. SHAKE HER BON BON – Began awkwardly. TRAIL BUSTER – Placed in restricted room and lost ground shortly after the start.
